REGULAR MEETING JUNL 19+ 17uj <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST _& SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY <br />LIMITS OF SOUTH BENDS INDIANA, CERTAIN LANDS. <br />(167.79.acres, more or less, generally between Colfax <br />Road and Toll Road and bounded on the east, south and <br />west by present city limits & fronting on Portage Road) <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Muszynski made a motion <br />that the ordinance be set for public hearing on July 26, 1965. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST & SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $3,000.00 FOR THE USE BY THE <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY FOR EXPENSES IN CONNECTION <br />WITH THE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION OF THE FOUNDING OF THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH'BEND, INDIANA. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Smith made a motion <br />that the ordinance be set for public hearing on July 12, 1965. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 100 - -65 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />WHEREAS, the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad is now and has been an integral and important part <br />of this community, and <br />WHEREAS, the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad has been most cooperative in civic improvements such <br />as the airport industrial park, and <br />WHEREAS, the services of the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad to the City of South Bend are most <br />important indeed, and , <br />WHEREAS, this Council has been informed of negotiations between the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Rail- <br />road and the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway for a merger, and <br />WHEREAS, this Council is of the considered opinion that such merger would be most beneficial to the City of <br />South Bend; , <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That this Council does hereby publicly express its opinion that such merger <br />is in the best possible interests and does hereby request the Interstate Commerce Commission to take favorable <br />and prompt action on Finance Docket No. 23566, which is the application of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway to <br />control the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad. <br />I hereby certify that the above resolution was duly passed this 14th day of June, 1965, by the City Council <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and that the above is a true and correct copy of said resolution. <br />Dated this 15th day of June, 1965. <br />CITY COUNCIL OF SOUTH BEND <br />/s/ By: John V. Blough, /s/ <br />City Clerk <br />Resolution adopted by a roll call vote of 7 ayes - 2 absent (Councilmen Geib and Glass). <br />RESOLUTION NO. 101 - -65 <br />RESOLUTION FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN THE CONSULTING <br />SERVICES ACCOUNT OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $355.00 AND THE TRANSFER.OF THE SAME FROM THE <br />PRINTING OTHER THAN OFFICE SUPPLIES ACCOUNT IN THE SAME <br />CATEGORY OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION. <br />WHEREAS, Certain extraordinary conditions have developed since the adoption of the existing annual budget, <br />so that it is now necessary to appropriate more money than was appropriated in the annual budget for the <br />various functions of City Government to meet such extraordinary contingencies; and <br />WHEREAS, Additional consulting services are urgently needed by the City Planning Commission to assure its <br />ability to properly perform its function and the sum of $355.00 is needed forthwith; and <br />WHEREAS, A surplus exists in another account where it is not presently needed at this time; and more <br />specifically as follows, to -wit: <br />1. Three Hundred Fifty -five Dollars ($355.00) in Account #241 designated as Printing <br />other than office supplies. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, That the sum of $355.00 be <br />transferred to Account #241 designated as Printing, other than office supplies, by transferring it from the <br />following account, to -wit: <br />2. Three Hundred Fifty -five Dollars ($355.00) from Account #262, Consulting services, <br />said accounts being in the same category, to -wit: properties of the City Planning Commission. <br />/s/ John L.
