Ironwood) <br />The Ordinance was given third reading and lost by a roll call vote of 7 nays, 1 aye (Councilman Glass), 1 absent, <br />(Councilman Allen) <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4333 - - -60 <br />AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, CERTAIN LANDS (Ireland Road and Pennsylvania Railroad Tracks) <br />The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 6 ayes, 2 nays (Councilmen Glass and Lehman) <br />1 absent (Councilman Allen). <br />REPORT OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION <br />The Honorable Common Council <br />City of South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />September 12, 1960 <br />The attached petition of Joseph and Stella Mrozek, to rezone One -Half of Lots 215 and 216, Kaley's 2nd Subdivision, <br />more commonly known as 501 North Olive Street from "B" Residential Use and f1B" Height and Area District to "C" Com- <br />mercial Use and "C" Height and Area District was legally advertised on August 22, 1960 and given public hearing <br />under date of September 8, 1960. The following action was taken: <br />After due consideration the Commission found that since a commercial establishement has been located upon the <br />subject property for many years and commercial zoning exists on the other three corners of subject intersection <br />the petition should be granted. E. Smith's Subdividion of Lots Nos., <br />38, 39, 40 and 41 in Second Plat of Shetterly Place Addition to the City of South Bend, also a tract or parcel of <br />land 42 feet in width taken off and from the entire length of the Northwesterly side of Lot No. 42 in the Second <br />Plat of Shetterly Place, and also a tract or parcel of land 8 feet in width taken off of and from the entire <br />length of the Southeasterly side of Lot No. 42 and a tract or parcel of land 46 feet in width taken off of and <br />from the entire length of the Northwesterly side of Lot No. 43 in the Second Plat of Shetterly Place, the above <br />listed properties being more generally described as lying in the 700 block of Portage Avenue, from "B" Residential <br />Use to "C" Commercial Use was legally advertised on August 22, 1960 and given public hearing under date of <br />September 8, 1960. The following action was taken: <br />After due consideration the Commission found that the proposed zoning represented a continuation of strip zoning <br />and this accompanied by the large amount of existing commercial zoning in the immediate area being used other than <br />for commercial purposes clearly shows the need for no additional commercial zoning in'the area and the petition <br />therefore should be denied.
