REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 9, 1981 <br />BILL NO. 113 -81 A BILL APPROPRIATING $35,000.00 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE <br />GRANT, COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING FOR <br />THE REPAIR OF ISLAND PARK TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE DEPARTMENT <br />OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />Now is the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. Joseph Kernan, made the presentation <br />for the bill. He indicated this money would be used to fund a portion of the money <br />required to repair the damage to Island Park. He indicated they anticipated the <br />total cost of repair will be approximately $80,000. Council Member Serge made a <br />motion to recommend this bill to the Council favorable, seconded by Council Member <br />Taylor. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 114 -81 <br />A BILL APPROPRIATING $1,050,000 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE <br />GRANT COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING FOR <br />1981 SALARY AND FRINGE BENEFIT INCREASES TO BE ADMINISTERED <br />THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />Now is the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. Joseph Kernan, City Controller, <br />made the presentation for the bill. He indicated this appropriation would be used to <br />cover all 1981 salary and fringe benefits increases for 1981. Council Member McGann <br />made a motion to recommend this bill to the Council favorable, seconded by Council <br />Member Taylor. the motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 115 -81 A BILL APPROPRIATING $50,000.00 FROM THE COMMUNITY <br />DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUND, FOR ASSISTANCE WITH <br />ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES AND CONSTRUCTION OF A PARKING LOT <br />FOR THE HISPANIC YOUTH NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER, TO BE ADMINISTERED <br />BY THE DIVISION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND LA CASA DE <br />AMISTAD INC. <br />Now is the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. Colleen Rosenfeld, Director of <br />Community Development, she indicated this appropriation would be used to fund salary <br />and fringe benefits for four employees and the construction costs of the parking lot. <br />Council Member Dombrowski made a motion to recommend this bill to the Council favorable, <br />seconded by Council Member Zielinski. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 116 -81 A BILL APPROPRIATING $10,000.00 FROM THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br />BLOCK GRANT FUND, FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE NEW LASALLE FILLMORE <br />NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER AND PARKING LOT, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY <br />THE DIVISION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND A.C.T.I.O.N., <br />INC., OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY. <br />Now is the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. Colleen Rosenfeld, Director of <br />Community Development, made the presentation for the bill. She indicated these funds <br />would be used for remodeling materials for the inside and outside of the classroom <br />buildings and parking lot construction materials. Council Member McGann made a motion <br />to recommend this bill to the Council favorable, seconded by Council Member Taylor. <br />The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 117 -81 <br />A BILL APPROPRIATING $10,066.00 FROM THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br />BLOCK GRANT FUND FOR THE SUPPORT OF AN OLDER ADULT CRIME <br />VICTIM PROGRAM ACTIVITY TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DIVISION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND <br />REAL SERVICES OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INC. <br />Now is the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. Colleen Rosenfeld, Director of <br />Community Development, made the presentation for the bill. She indicated these funds <br />would be used to continue the Older Adult Crime Victim Program. Council Member Taylor <br />made a motion to recommend this bill to the Council favorable, seconded by Council <br />Member Dombrowski.
