Erie Insurance Group
April 22, 2025
Page 7

There was no evidence of structural damage to the masonry framing for the
exterior walls, the floor structures of the residential building, or the
fenestrations from a one-time event such as the tree impact. The force of the tree
impact did not result in permanent shifting, twisting, or racking of the house or
displacement of the entire structure. The lateral forces from the tree impacting the
west side of the attached garage resulted in the racking and movements in the
tops of the east, west, and south garage walls toward the east. The damage to
the structure was readily replaceable and repairable on a spot and individual basis.
Repairs of the fractured hip rafters of the second story at the tree impact location
should be completed. The repairs should include wallboard ceiling repairs in the
master bathroom and kitchen, repairs to the damaged shingles of the west and
south-facing roof slopes, replacement of the wood roof structure at the attached
garage, and reconstruction of the displaced and fractured CMU exterior walls in
the attached garage.
The tree stone
foundation, the exterior walls, the concrete slab of the garage, the east entry patio
and posts, or the floor structures. We observed no recent cracks or displacement
in the foundation of the building and no evidence of damage to the foundation walls
from a recent event.

Scope of Repairs
In order to repair the structural damage to the subject building caused by the tree
and tree limbs impacts on March 30, 2025, we recommend that the damaged
framing of the garage s roof structure be removed and replaced, the fractured
decking be replaced, the damaged asphalt composition shingles and gutters be
replaced with the same sized members, and the isolated interior wallboard cracks
be repaired. All repairs should be performed by qualified contractors and in
accordance with all applicable state and local building codes and standards.
