Madison Lifestyle District - CMc RFP Response • Shiel Sexton | 18Confidential material included on this page.
VIRTUAL DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION:
ADVANCED TECH IN EXPERIENCED HANDS
Shiel Sexton leverages the capabilities of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design
and Construction (VDC) technologies to maximize value and efficiency for our clients. This
significantly improves project productivity in areas like planning, design, implementation, and
communication while reducing risk and cost throughout the project lifecycle.
Technology
BIM and VDC’s multi-disciplinary
management process uses an
interactive 3D model to represent the
project and its individual components
for project planning, design,
implementation, schedule verification,
and communication. High level BIM/
VDC implementation offers enhanced
risk management, substantial
productivity gains, shortened
construction time scales, and
significant cost savings. Throughout
the lifecycle of the project, the BIM
model serves as a single repository
for data about changes, impacts on
timeline, and constructability. Using
BIM technology, teams can conduct
precise coordination, identifying
conflicts and their impact, track
changes, and conduct advanced,
visual scheduling coordination.
Shiel Sexton employs BIM to facilitate
communication among all members
of the team. As an integrated platform
with anytime/anywhere access, BIM
allows field teams to anticipate issues
and avoid problems at the job site, and
empowers them with information to
solve challenges collaboratively and
quickly when necessary.
PURDUE UNIVERSITY EGP RENOVATION
Incorporating a laser scan of the existing space of
EE/Duncan into the Coordination Model early on
during the project, the Shiel Sexton team identifying
ahead of time that the mechanical systems needed
more room. This saved both time and money by
preventing unnecessary rework.
Case Study
PROJECT APPROACH
