Packer controls to be located in the cab, <br />controls to be heavy duty, color coded, corrosion proof and weather <br />resistant. Red emergency stop button shall stop packer ram movement at <br />any time. Packer to be equipped with electronically controlled multi cycle <br />timed or continuous operation system. System must be capable of packing <br />at idle. <br />Hydraulic System: Pump to be double vane type driven by a coupler to the front of the engine <br />crank shaft. System to have proper overall volume, PSI and GPM ratings <br />to operate all systems of the packer unit in accordance with engineering <br />best practices. Hydraulic reservoir to include sight level indicator with <br />temperature gauge, magnetic drain plug, shut off valves in suction line and <br />check valve in return line. Reservoir to have inspection and clean out <br />cover. Section line to include 100 mesh strainer, return line to have 7- <br />micron filter. Four braid wire hoses to be used on pressure side, all other <br />hose bends to conform to SAE standards. Gauge test ports to be provided. <br />All valving to be electric over hydraulic. Pump guard to be included. <br />Two test gauges will be included for each truck. PTO will be set to shut <br />off at 10 MPH speed. <br />Electrical: All body lights to be LED type, recess mounted and watertight. Mid -body <br />turn signals to be included. Hopper work lights to be included. One roof <br />mounted and two tail gate mounted strobe lights to be included along with <br />an electronic back up alarm. All limit switches to be heavy duty, <br />industrial type, watertight with adjustable arm and over travel protection. <br />All electrical circuit to be properly fused, color coded and numbered. <br />Safety: Unit must conform to all Local, State, and Federal standards to include all <br />DOT required lighting and additional lighting as specified. Tail gate and <br />body to have safety prop rods, alarms and warning light, hydraulic safety <br />check valves to prevent sudden descent. Packer blade to have emergency <br />stop button. Back up alarm to be included along with camera. Any frame <br />modification must exceed the initial frame RBM and section modules. <br />Vehicle Weight <br />Distribution: It is the intent of the City of South Bend to operate this vehicle from time <br />to time on the highways and roads of the State of Michigan. Vendor to <br />submit a weight distribution chart for the unit bid indicating each axles <br />load with body full and compacted with normal dry refuse to 900 lbs. per <br />cubic yard. <br />Miscellaneous: All pivot points, cylinder -based trunnions, cylinder rod ends and body <br />hinge parts to be greaseable from ground level. Body and hopper to be <br />cleaned of all dirt and grit, steel grit blasted, urethane primed and finish <br />with white IMRON 5000 or equal. Inner body cavity to be rust protected. <br />
