of the building.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: With consideration and understanding of Taylor's Field Guidelines for
Historic Preservation & Developments (specifically the sections detailing roofs and the visibility of
mechanicals), staff would recommend approval of the proposed project.
Written by
Adam Toering
Deputy Director
Approved by
Elicia Feasel
Executive Director
Commissioner Hertel moved to deny due to lack of information, and the possibility of the
solar grids being seen from the street. Seconded by Commissioner Gordon. President
Klusczinski clarified that votes in the affirmative will support the motion to deny the application
and reminded the members to state their reasons when voting. Roll call was ordered.
Commissioner Gelfman voted (AYE): I vote to deny due to lack of information concerning the
mounting system and the placement of the particular solar panels.
Commissioner Anderson voted (AYE): [I] would like more information about the minimum
amount of panels and also different opportunities for where they could be mounted on the roof so
we can know they will not be visible.
Commissioner Buccellato voted (AYE): I vote to deny due to concerns over the location of the
two easternmost exposed panels and also the lack of information of the mounting system.
Commissioner Gordon voted (AYE): I vote to deny the application on the basis of the lack of
information in regard to the mounting and the site of the two panels from the street level.
Commissioner Klusczinski voted (AYE): I vote to deny the application for the following reasons:
we have a lack of information and no representation from the applicant to understand the project
or to understand what aspects of the project may be reworked. There is the possibility that the
installation as presented in this document would be a partial distraction from the visual perspective
of the structure, not in keeping with the standards and guidelines for Taylor's Field. The public
detriment that would be created from allowing passage of this application would be that if there is
an appearance issue that is created as precedent, that would be the basis of future applications.
Commissioner Hertel voted (AYE): I vote to deny this application due to insufficient information
regarding the mounting system and the possibility of being seen from the street.
Commissioner Klusczinski asked that if the applicant were to submit another application that the
fee be waived — to carry the general consent of the board.
Seven in favor, none opposed.
Vote: 7 — 0 COA#2017-0905B Denied.
I
