In my opinion, you have made a good choice in your plans for the restoration of the front door portico. The picture that you enclosed of your plans show a structure that is quite similar to the entryway that stood there in the picture from 1905 that I am enclosing. In the photo from 1914 that I am including, it is clear that the porch that was found there at the later date was quite different. 3. Your plans for functional borders with the neighbors sound intriguing. Perhaps the photo that I am including of the south lawn about 1912 might give you an idea about how borders were designated at that time. 4. First of all, I think of you often and am so glad that you are a willing resource for the history and heritage of the home. It means a lot to me. I would like to bring you up to date on the Kownover Farmstead here in Granger, Indiana. It has been a busy year, and the projects continue... We continue to have guests enjoy the home as a vacation rental property. It is quite popular and it is a rare weekend when we don't have a group visiting. Winter months are a little slower, and that has afforded me the time to write to you, along with other catching up. Here is a short list of projects we have accomplished this year... 1. We finished the basement northwest room into a bedroom, having installed an egress window for safety. We borrowed some space from that room to put in an additional full bathroom, as well. This required some plumbing upgrades. 2. The previous owners (Sokol's) had a dry sauna in the lower level and we decided to make the sunroom into a spa room. The sauna was moved there, and we added a hot tub. It is quite the relaxation spot!!
