should receive the $12,500.00 in two weeks. Request for origin of South Bend park names from the history
museum.
2 September Field trip with Steve and George to Portage Prairie Cemetery and to Ullery Cemetery in
hopes of locating the Abraham Kizer family grave sites. No luck. The headstone is now in the Office.
Reconciled Location Report for August. Returned Sheila Reddings inquiry as to 541 N. Ironwood.
Explained that I was unable to get to the History Museum to determine if Maud P. Coquillard actually lived
there or if she just owned the property. It was not part of the Coquillard Estate.
3 September Met with Jeffery Sampson of The Dry Moon Group, Inc that now owns 615 Riverside.
Went over our expectations with him for the property and that most of the work required is cosmetic.
Mailed out information for the landmarking of 135 Birdsell to Norma Battle.
4 September General Office work. Inquiries about 301 Sunnyside from Real Estate brokers and 803
W. Washington. Discussion with homeowner at 1246 E. Jefferson on window issues. Then & Now Tour at
5:00 for about a dozen.
7 September Office Closed for Labor Day.
8 September COA deadline day. In Office all day. Began to pack up the BSSB material for storage.
9 September Staff Reports and meeting prep. General Office work. South Bend Parks Inquiry
Research.
10 September Staff Reports and meeting prep. Visit from Robert Bassett from Anchorage, Alaska
looking for information on his family: Hibberd. Found information on file for Mary & John, Joseph 1840s
Charles and Joseph in 1870s and Helen in 1904. Charles Hibberd founded the printing company located
at 323 S. Main in 1889 and lived at 507 W. Washington; Robert Bassett's father was Charles Hibberd
Bassett. Robert was very happy with all of the information we were able to provide to him.
11 September Finished Commissioner's packets and mailings to homeowners; sent to mail room. 13 106
Reviews, mostly for owner occupied repairs. On site visit to verify location of telecommunications tower
proposed by EBI Consulting that appears to have Cripe Witter Cemetery on the extreme diameter of the
area of potential effects. It does, so we will need to be a consulting party. Located the appropriate
cemetery for Julian Kizer which is Cripe Witter from the St. Joseph County Township books. Steve located
the information; also verified through the City Directories that Maude P. Coquillard did not live at 541
Ironwood. She owned the property but never lived there. Steve and I met with Jeff Sampson of Kalderon
LLC owners of 615 Riverside. He will be restoring the front porch by matching the original rusticated
block; removing the improper mortar application and replacing with a mortar with more lime in the
formula and then cleaning the surfaces.
14 September Research in the Parks names. RMEs for tree removal and replanting approved by Brent
Thompson. Continued research on 541 Ironwood in 1940s and 1950s to determine if a Coquillard ever
lived there. Participated in the Finance Committee of the History Museum. Called Jim Kizer with the
information that the Kizer children are in Cripe Whitter Cemetery.
