CATHERINE HOSTETLER: I think our hands are pretty much tied by the standards. Other than
out right refusing and denying the application, all we can do is to table it and have the East Wayne
Street Liaison Committee meet and decide whether they want to amend their standards to allow
these two types of pear trees to be planted in the tree lawn; and go from there.
WILLIAM LAMIE: I understand that, and I explained that to the Liddells. The reason I am
continuing to want to discuss this, and I can do this with the Liaison Committee if need be, is that I
have -gotten a listfromthe city -forester. The—city-forester has a not recommended list and it just so
happens that the Mountain ash and the American elm are on that list for tree lawns. There are
issues with these other trees that cannot be denied
JOHN OXIAN: I would like to make a motion that the C. of A. be tabled until the next meeting in
June. I would recommend that the Liaison Committee and the Liddells meet and come back with a
decision concerning the two trees that you mentioned.
VIRGINIA O'HAIR: Seconds the motion.
JOANN SPORLEDER: I would like to amend John's motion, not to limit the discussion to those
two trees; because, I think there are other ways of handling this. Perhaps, the Liddells would
consider some other kind of tree altogether, in case the Liaison Committee doesn't want to change
its mind.
GERALD UJDAK: Seconds the motion and the motion carries unanimously.
3. 2003-0515; 701 East Riverside Drive; Remove original existing
cedar shake siding from. front and side of house, and replace with
vinyl siding previously used for addition and for new garage. Also,
replace sidewalks on front and south sides of house.
KAREN HAlVIIv10ND-NASH: (See attached staff report). -- - - -- -
-- — -- -
JULIA DESLAURIER: (Was present with her contractor, John Troyer, (Troyer Construction
Company), to answer questions from commissioner members).
JULIA DESLAURIER: We have been here in the past before when Rhonda was director. I know
that John expressed an interest in keeping the example that we have of the cedar shake, because he
was so impressed by it. He thought that they could really recommend it to other homeowners in the
future that wanted to use vinyl cedar shake.
The cedar shake that is on the garage is gorgeous. I know that Catherine can attest to this,
because she can see it from her house. The addition also has the same type of cedar shake on it, and
it also looks gorgeous. There is no way that you can tell that it is not cedar shake.
I have gone through enormous expense to maintain what I do have on my home. I have two
years of water damage. I was dropped by my insurance company due to claims. I have spent
$6,000.00 dollars to have the house painted. The house was primed and painted by a professional
painter and within months the paint on the house peeled all the way down to the wood. I then went
to small claims court about what happened to the paint on my house and I won the case. I did not
receive any reimbursement; due to the fact, that the painter did not show up and we do not know
