JOANN SPORLEDER: What happens to this part of the porch?
GARY VANOVERBERGHE: That area will be tied into the side of the building. There
is a French door from the dining room that leads to out to the screened -in -porch.
JOANN SPORLEDER: Are you planning on having access to that screened -in -porch
from the kitchen?
GARY VAN OVERBERGHE: No, you will only have access from the dining room to
the screened -in -porch.
MARY JANE CHASE: So, the porch is going to stay then and tie in with the roof line
somehow with what we have seen here?
GARY VAN OVERBERGHE: It will tie into the side of the addition.
VIRGINIA O'HAIR: How does this look from the neighbor's view on the west side of
that house?
GARY VAN OVERBERGHE: There is a shared driveway that runs the distance
between the two properties to two unattached garages. From the view of the neighbors, I
could not tell you that; because, I have not been allowed to go onto their property.
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: Staff did have an opportunity to go out and walk by this
house and there is an existing enclosed stoop on the place where the proposed addition is
to be built. While the full size of the addition is eight by eleven feet; it is in fact, actually
only four feet wider and seven feet deeper than the existing stoop. So, it would not
actually be very much closer to the neighbor's property from our observation.
GARY VAN OVERBERGHE: I have one more request before you make any approval.
The homeowner called me previously this week about the windows. At some point in the
lifespan of this house the windows will have to be replaced.
If they are going to do the kitchen, then they would like to replace the kitchen
window. Now, I can provide a window of that same style with true divided light done in
either aluminum or wood sash. I brought sample of the window done in an aluminum
clad. The window is also available in a true wood form with true divided light. They
would like to replace the small twin double hung window that is presently there now.
We would use the same window opening that is already there and the window
would be custom made to fit this opening. The molding that is around the window
should be replaced so that it matches the existing trim.
JOANN SPORLEDER: I move that application number 2003-0606 at 1344 East Wayne
Street South be approved as suggested by staff.
MARY JANE CHASE: Seconds the motion and the motion passes. John Oxian and
Gerald Ujdak abstained.
