JOANN SPORLEDER: Is there something happening up here; because, basically you
have a partial second floor on the upper level?
GARY VAN OVERBERGHE: In the existing house back where -that room comes out
there is an existing door on the laundry porch that goes into an empty room with no
closet. What we want to do is underneath the roof that extends down would be to
incorporate a closet in that space.
Option two with the changed pitch of the roof, is so that we can make that second
story room a little bit larger and more usable.
GARY VAN OVERBERGHE: That existing exterior door on the back of the house can
be installed on that blank wall on the side of the house.
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: Or you could install a window at the owner's option.
GARY VAN OVERBERGHE: The reason for expanding the kitchen is to that there
would be more usable space. If you install a window there then you will be cutting down
on your available wall space.
MARY JANE CHASE: Has anyone seen or does any one know what is currently
underneath the siding?
GARY VAN OVERBERGHE: My guess is that it is some sort of wood lap siding.
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: Do you know whether it is six inch, or four inch, or two
inch revealed?
GARY VAN OVERBERGHE: No I do not know.
JOHN OXIAN: You can always change that by making it bigger.
GARY VAN OVERBERGHE: That is not want the owner proposes to do, so that is not
what I am proposing to you.
JOHN OXIAN: The thing about it is that you are extending the back part here and then
you are leaving a porch back there that was added on at one time. You're also taking off
part of a building which was not added on, unless I am mistaken. So in other words, you
are making a whole new design on one side of the building. If you are going to make one
whole design on one side of the building then either make the stoop larger or put
something on the end which will at least look like what the house originally looked like.
GARY VAN OVERBERGHE: I can tell you that the front porch area with all the
windows is an addition to the house. So, the front porch is not an original part of the
house either.
