JOHN OXIAN: If the paint is in the inside, why can't you just remove the wood on the
inside; instead of having to take out the whole window?
SCOTT PEACOCK: Are you referring to the wood on the inside or the paint on the
inside?
JOHN OXIAN: The wood.
SCOTT PEACOCK: The whole window is wood. The jam itself is wood as well as the
window sashes.
MARY JANE CHASE: On a window where you have paint that has been layered
through the years and it has chipped and it is flaking, covering this with paint would
encapsulate it; but, you would have a very ugly bumpy look. Now in order to get it to
look more attractive you almost have to sand it down, which would leave lead paint all
over the place. So you can't encapsulate it unless you smooth it down somehow.
LYNN PATRICK: I will make a motion, because we all to seem to be dead locked here.
I think we all hold a respect for the historic value of the windows. A lot of us live in
historic houses and we respect what it is like to have windows that don't work, are not
economical, lead based, and drafty. Pella is a fine product. I would like to see the
original windows kept, but I do understand their need also. So, I am going to move that
we accept what they are offering because it is going to be very high quality. Obviously
they are willing to spend the money to do this right and they also have to live in this
house.
Mary Jane Chase and Diane Wrobel -illes second the motion and the motion passes.
John Oxian and Joann Sporleder abstained.
3. 2003 -0414; 916 Riverside Drive; install 6' tall aluminum fence, part
decorative fencing and part chain link.
KAREN HAMMOND -NASH: (See attached Staff Report).
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: Are either Mr. or Mrs. Stockrahm here tonight?
PATRICIA STOCKRAHM: (See description of proposed work attached to the C. of A.
Application).
A discussion was then held between Mrs. Stockrahm and commission members regarding
the three application items listed in the attached Staff Report.
JOANN SPORLEDER: I will make a motion to accept application number 2003 -0414 at
916 Riverside Drive.
