KAREN HAMMOND -NASH: (See attached Staff Report).
MELVIN HALL: (See description of proposed work attached to the C. of A.
Application).
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: Is your contractor here with you tonight?
SCOTT PEACOCK: These are the Pella architectural series of windows. We are in fact
trying to keep with the historical nature of the architecture of the house. The windows
are all custom -made. They are not a replacement window they are a prime window.
So, we are intending on taking the existing window out completely so that there is no
deviation as far as glass size or sash size. I don't think at this point it would be necessary
for them to have the storm windows, in that they are going to have insulated glass. We
will be taking out the whole window frame work and I am not sure how the storm
windows would reapply; but, from the street you will never know the difference.
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: Does anyone from the commission have any questions for
either the Halls or Scott Peacock?
JOANN SPORLEDER: Yes, I would like to know whether the paint on the inside is
peeling, flaking, or powdering.
LEDA HALL: I would say that the inside is greatly deteriorated and is peeling, flaking,
powdering.
LYNN PATRICK: It is not clear to me. How many windows are we talking about here?
SCOTT PEACOCK: Eleven windows.
LYNN PATRICK: The windows that you pull out, will those be taken to a landfill,
recycled, or what will happen to them?
SCOTT PEACOCK: They will have to be discarded and I am not sure with the lead base
exactly what we have to do with them yet.
LYNN PATRICK: I am just wondering if there is any technology coming down the road
in the future where the lead base might be able to be removed and these windows might
find a later life somewhere.
SCOTT PEACOCK: Actually, they are not in as good a condition as they appear from
the street. None of the windows operate correctly and that is part of the problem as well.
However, we could leave the windows we take out inside for somebody else.
MARY JANE CHASE: Will the frame be vinyl?
SCOTT PEACOCK: The Pella windows are an aluminum clad.
