The first floor living
room windows are to be unaffected.
Mr. Duvall presented the Staff Report and distributed photographs and product
literature. Mr. Duvall then indicated that the applicant, was present. Mrs.
Sporleder asked what Mr. Hojnacki was going to do with the front living room
windows. Mr. Hojnacki stated that nothing was going to be done with them
because they were not'a problem. Mrs. Sporleder asked if he was going to put
in interior storms. Mr. Hojnacki stated that he was not. Mrs. Sporleder
asked what had caused -him to want to replace the windows. Mr. Hojnacki noted
that the windows, were terribly inefficient due to the fact that they just do
not fit their openings and that the metal is deteriorating. Mrs. Sporleder
asked if he would consider doing interior storm windows.. Mr. Hojnacki stated
that he had looked into them, but.that they would not work due to their window
air conditioners and the windows protruding hardware. Mr. Oxian asked how
many windows were going to be replaced. Mr. Hojnacki said there were a total
of 24 windows in the house and that the five living room windows in the front
and two basement windows would not be affected. In total sixteen windows will
be replaced. Mr. Duvall explained and passed around an overlay that depicted
the window style currently in the house and the proposed new windows. He
further discussed the number of sashes and the casement type of the old and
new windows. Mrs. Sporleder asked how Mr. Hojnacki had come to choose this
particular manufacturer. Mr. Hojnacki said he had dealt with them in the past
when he had windows installed in his cottage. Mrs. Sporleder questioned if
the new windows were standardized or if they would be designed to fit each
individual window opening. Mr. Hojnacki said that they would all fit the
existing openings. There was further discussion of which windows were to be
• replaced. Mr. Fine noted that the.commission had already discussed this issue
a lot and did not need to reiterate everything.
Mr. Fine stated that he felt the windows were a significant feature of the
house and that what was most important was what was visible from the front of
the house. He passed out some pictures of a building with similar windows
that were replaced with the type Mr. Hojnacki wants to install. The pictures
pointed out Mr. Fines opinion that with sandwiched muntins you do not get'the
