• with the 1993 Summary Report of the Indiana Historic Sites and Structures <br />Inventory for South Bend. He added that this nomination was initiated by the <br />Hansel Center for the purpose of leveraging future funding for improvements. <br />Mr. Oxian noted that there was an interesting secondary structure at the rear <br />of the. property. Mr. Duvall noted that this was a carriage house which may <br />have been related to an earlier dwelling but that there was no record found of <br />such a building. He noted that there is a gap of nearly 2 decades in the <br />Sanborn Insurance map records for the city during the early Twentieth Century. <br />Mrs. Choitz moved that the commission recommend this nomination to the Mayor, <br />the SHPO and the State Historic Preservation Review Board for inclusion in the <br />National Register. Mrs. Petrass seconded the motion. The motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />IV: Regular Business <br />A. Minutes <br />Mr. Duvall noted that there had been corrections made to the May minutes at <br />the previous meeting which was without a quorum but that he had not had <br />occasion during the intervening period to revise those or to prepare the <br />minutes from that meeting. He indicated he would have all minutes prepared for <br />the July meeting. <br />B. Treasurer's Report <br />Mr. Wiener indicated that he would. have a second Quarter report for the July <br />meeting. <br />C. Correspondence <br />Mr. Duvall noted no correspondence to report which was not covered in some <br />other item of business. <br />D. Committee Reports <br />1. Budget & Finance <br />Mr. Oxian reported having met with County commissioner Beverly Crone in which <br />he had discussed, establishing the HPC as a separately funded agency. She had <br />agreed to suggest such a change and He had directed Mr. Duvall to send a <br />letter to her confirming this intention. He had also discussed the creation of <br />a fund dedicated to matching grant funding from other sources. Other items <br />which had been discussed at this meeting were salary funding; the Studebaker <br />Clubhouse, whereby the commissioners are in agreement regarding the need for <br />maintenance; and the old courthouse for which $200,000 of funding has been <br />secured.. <br />2. Historic Districts <br />Mrs. Choitz reported that there was a need to establish a meeting date in the <br />early Fall for West North Shore and Riverside Drive. Regarding the proposal <br />for a South St. Joseph Street District, a preliminary meeting has been <br />scheduled to discuss the necessary process. Mr. Duvall noted that the Ballots <br />had been distributed for the River Bend Liaison election which will be tallied <br />before the next meeting. <br />3. Historic Landmarks <br />Mr. Oxian 'reported that <br />1631 Lincolnway West - has been sold and Code Enforcement has provided a <br />reprieve for improvements by the new owners. <br />The Studebaker Clubhouse has been submitted to the County Council for <br />Landmark designation by ordinance. <br />804 N. Lafayette - Madison School - He met along with Mr. Duvall with Mr. <br />Stahley and Mr. Jasiewicz of the school administration and agreed to a four <br />page 5 <br />
