•
•
IV. Regular Business
In reviewing minutes for May 19, 1996, Mr. Oxian corrected that the Studebaker
Clubhouse Local Landmark designation was to be recommended to the County
Council, not the Common Council. He further noted that on comment in
discussion of the Studebaker clubhouse attributed to Mrs. Choitz must have
been made by someone else as Mrs. Choitz had left the meeting when it
relocated to'Mrs. Derose's offices..
Mr. Oxian asked whether Mrs. DeRose was going to'address the issue of amending
the Preservation Plan regarding the definition of publicly owned resources.
Mrs. DeRose indicated that she was not certain of the. advisability of such a
change and that she and he should meet to discuss the matter. He also
indicated that he felt the code should. be amended to increase the 45 day
review requirement to 60 days . His rationale was that such a change would
allow time to table or refer an application to a committee for at least one
month without requiring a waiver of the limit. He noted that the present time
frame did not allow sufficient time for commission members to visit project
locations before the Public Hearing in many cases. Mrs. DeRose indicated that
she tended to agree but felt that it might be difficult to get passed by
council. Mr. Fine & Mrs. Choitz agreed that the commission needed to consider
the pros & cons of such a change. Mrs.'DeRose noted that if such a change were
made in city code that the Staff would have to draft*a similar ordinance for
the county as she could not work on county business as a city employee. Mr.
Oxian noted that a review of the county ordinance was in order as some other
changes had been recently made and were presently being made in city code
which would make it at variance with county code and that the two should be
retained as similar as possible.
Mrs. Choitz reported on Project Access that future planning should provide for
meeting jointly with Riverside Drive and West North Shore owners at a combined
meeting. Mrs-. Hostetler noted that summer was not a good season for such
meetings. Mrs. DeRose observed that the initiation of Project Access had been
very helpful in the HPC's public relations.
Being unable to conduct other business, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
rocaed -ur c ---
page 2
0L., f G e- n k`Pet l 11!)
Cert, S re Ce t L;?c
