is E. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR REVISIONS IN REPAIR PROCEDURES <br />1. Excavations: <br />a. Brick must be lifted in a manner which does not damage the bricks themselves. <br />b. Brick shall be stacked and delivered to either the City or to the contractor who makes the <br />final repairs, to be used for the final repair. <br />c. Brick shall be removed to expose an area large enough to prevent any damage to the <br />surrounding bricks. <br />d. If, in the event a brick sub -base is encountered, the brick is to be lifted in the same fashion <br />as bricks encountered on the surface. These bricks are to be stacked and delivered to <br />the City. <br />e. Concrete which is to be excavated should be, whenever possible, cut at pavement joints. <br />When the area to be excavated exceeds fifty percent of a panel, ora diagonal cut is <br />made, the entire panel shall be removed and replaced in original kind. <br />2. Permits: <br />• a,. Permits should be applied for and received before any right-of-way cutis made. <br />b. Permit applications should be reviewed on an individual job basis only. Each job should <br />should have a separate permit. <br />c. Permit exceptions: if personal welfare or traffic hazards exist, a permit may be applied for <br />after the cut is made. However, all specifications must be followed as if a permit had <br />been issued. <br />3. Storage of removed brick: <br />a. Brick is to be stored by the City or by the contractor who will be making the final repairs. <br />b. Brick which is to be stored by the City can be used by the contractor to replace any bricks <br />which were damaged during the street excavation. These bricks should be available for <br />a charge to the contractor. <br />4. Repairs: <br />a. All repairs should be made in like materials and patterns. No exceptions. <br />b. All repairs should be made according to the latest edition of the City of Dayton Construction <br />and Material Specifications. <br />c. Brick repairs are to be made with the same bricks which were removed from the site during <br />excavation. <br />7 <br />
