COMMITTEE REPORT - Committee: Historic Districts and Standards Date: May 8, 1978 7:30 p.m. Place: Area Plan Conference Room - 11th floor-'County/City Building Present: Ted Wasielewski, John Oxia:n, Ruth Price, F.Jay Nimtz, Candy Peck Comments: 1, Orange -Colfax Street Connector. - We looked briefly at the negative declara- tion and Ms„ Peck noted some issues that she thought needed more research: i,e., Page 4: "Upon completion, parking will be prohibited on the Con- nector from Michigan Street west to Meade Street. Each residence is served by an alley or private drive for off street parking." Exhibit A: Map of Orange -Colfax Connector, including O'Brien Paint Co,, Martin Luther King Recreation Center, St. Paul's Memorial Methodist Church, West Washington Historic District, The Committee agreed that Exhibit A, the map, showed the incorrect boudaziLes of the West Washington Historic District and recommended that letters point- ing out this fact, along with a corrected map, be sent to Joseph Cloud, cc: Cole Associates, City Engineer, the Mayor, the National Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the State Highway Commission, the District Office of the Highway Commission, and MACOG. The Committee also recommended that an official request for all the infor- mation concerning the Connector be sent to the City Engineer The project will be reviewed after the information is obtained and further recommendation following this review. 2. The Main Street Commercial Historic District No conclusions. 3. West Washington Historic District First meetings for presentations on a local district will be: May 16, 1978 7:30 p.m. St. Paul's Church May 31, 1978 7:30 p.m. Tippecanoe Place We went over a brief outline of the presentation: 1. Hist6ry 2. Significance 3, Zoning Both Area Plan and C.D. have been asked to participate in the presentation. •
