COMMITTEE REPORT <br />- Committee: Historic Districts and Standards <br />Date: May 8, 1978 7:30 p.m. <br />Place: Area Plan Conference Room - 11th floor-'County/City Building <br />Present: Ted Wasielewski, John Oxia:n, Ruth Price, F.Jay Nimtz, Candy Peck <br />Comments: <br />1, Orange -Colfax Street Connector. - We looked briefly at the negative declara- <br />tion and Ms„ Peck noted some issues that she thought needed more research: <br />i,e., Page 4: "Upon completion, parking will be prohibited on the Con- <br />nector from Michigan Street west to Meade Street. Each residence is <br />served by an alley or private drive for off street parking." <br />Exhibit A: Map of Orange -Colfax Connector, including O'Brien <br />Paint Co,, Martin Luther King Recreation Center, St. Paul's <br />Memorial Methodist Church, West Washington Historic District, <br />The Committee agreed that Exhibit A, the map, showed the incorrect boudaziLes <br />of the West Washington Historic District and recommended that letters point- <br />ing out this fact, along with a corrected map, be sent to Joseph Cloud, cc: <br />Cole Associates, City Engineer, the Mayor, the National Advisory Council on <br />Historic Preservation, the State Highway Commission, the District Office of <br />the Highway Commission, and MACOG. <br />The Committee also recommended that an official request for all the infor- <br />mation concerning the Connector be sent to the City Engineer <br />The project will be reviewed after the information is obtained and further <br />recommendation following this review. <br />2. The Main Street Commercial Historic District <br />No conclusions. <br />3. West Washington Historic District <br />First meetings for presentations on a local district will be: <br />May 16, 1978 7:30 p.m. St. Paul's Church <br />May 31, 1978 7:30 p.m. Tippecanoe Place <br />We went over a brief outline of the presentation: <br />1. Hist6ry <br />2. Significance <br />3, Zoning <br />Both Area Plan and C.D. have been asked to participate in the <br />presentation. <br />• <br />
