Public Relations and Community Education <br />Ms. Price gave a report on Mr. Carl Westmoreland and his visit and <br />lecture here on May 9th and May 10th, 1978. - <br />Mr. Eckerle cordially invited all the Commission to a public meet- <br />ing, an informational public meeting, tomorrow night (April 26) at 7:30 <br />p.m. in the City Board of Works - Room 1300 on what a Neighborhood <br />Housing Service is. <br />No report on the National Trust Education Grant - "Project Landmarks". <br />7. Preservation Plan <br />Ms. Price said she'd like the preservation plan put in the City <br />Survey Committee because it's part of the survey. <br />Mr. Wasielewski said, "I think the Commission as a whole needs an <br />input on that and I would like to have the other three members here for <br />that." <br />8. Environmental Impact <br />No report <br />9. Presidential Report <br />President Wasielewski and Gertrud Gilbert discussed servicing the <br />Forbes typewriter, and President Wasielewski said he'd look into it <br />further. <br />10. Staff Report <br />Ms. Peck discussed Jeanne Denham's contributions to the Commission <br />including a project she is working on Stith a man named Mr. Moe from <br />Cole Associates. It has to do with Shambleau, an architect who did a <br />tremendous amount of buildings in South Bend and the area. <br />Ms. Peck stated that we had to hire Jeanne again because the money <br />(1,000) we paid her for four months runs out at the end of April. It <br />was also asked whether we should have a contract written up because if, <br />at some point, we want to match her salary for funds from the state or <br />somewhere, it should be pointed out that the majority, or 99% of her <br />work has been on the City Survey. <br />Ms. Peck said the proposal for Crumlish/Sporleder on the survey <br />will go back to Committee now and have a final report end recommenda- <br />tion to the Commission. She suggested that we can recommend to the <br />Committee that the research item for Jeanne Denham be a part of that <br />project. Ms. Price said this was out of the $20,000 - $12,000 and <br />$8,000. <br />Ms. Price moved, and Mr. Oxian seconded, that Jeanne Denham will <br />be paid $250.00 out of line item 264 for the month of May, and she is <br />to work on county items, Everyone said aye. <br />Ms. Peck offered the Commission a recommended list of books that <br />the Commission should purchase. <br />Ms. Peck said the office received a letter from the National Trust <br />(Washington) today concerning our subscription. They have services <br />now that you can get for $25.00 more on top of your $25.00 membership <br />
