It, however, can be <br />modified as the committees go along. He also stressed the use of <br />some type of committee report to the Commission, similar to a <br />report Mrs. Price submitted. It would not have to be very detailed, <br />but would let the Commission know what transpired. He again stressed <br />that the work of the Commission would have to be taken care of in <br />committee. <br />Staff Report <br />Ms. Peck reported that she'll be interviewing for a secretary. She <br />contacted CETA last week and said that stenography skills "have gone <br />by the wayside". She will continue to pursue this course this week <br />and next week. <br />She then brought up the question of books for the Commission library, <br />and Mrs. Price had some suggestions for additions. Mrs. Price <br />suggested law books, and submitted a list of about ten books dealing <br />with preservation law. This amounted to about $+5.00. Ms. Peck <br />suggested a volume on Viatoraan Archi+Pr+ e and FxtPrinr l�eenraiinn, <br />Mrs. Price suggested that the list of her books be submitted to <br />Gaylen Allsop for his recommendations. Ms. Peck then spoke about the <br />'American Preservation'magazine. Mrs. Price asked about a subscription <br />to'progressive Architecturc'and was informed that Notre Dame's library <br />has this. Ms. Sporleder suggested that two specific issues of this <br />magazine be ordered. Ms. Peck said that the November '76 and the <br />• November '77 issue have dealt specifically with preservation. Mrs. <br />Price again spoke about the need for preservation law books in the <br />Commission library. Mr. Oxian made a motion that money be allocated <br />for the"American Preservatian" magazine. Mr. Stivers seconded this <br />motion. The motion passed unanimously. Ms. Sporleder then moved <br />that the two issues, at $3.00 per copy, of "Progressive Architecture" <br />be ordered.. Mr. Nimtz seconded this motion, and it likewise passed <br />unanimously. Mr. Oxian wanted clarification on these publications, <br />and Ms. Peck so informed him. <br />Mr. Ted Wasielewski suggested that perhaps Ms. Peck could check to <br />purchase some of these books by the grant. Ms. Peck informed him <br />that this is a consultant grant and. covers only services, and Mr. <br />Allsop would be doing a job that normally would not be done by the <br />Commission. The grant would not fund a staff person, but 'specific <br />area or project. <br />Ms. Peck then spoke about another grant from Indiana Arts Commission, <br />for Dennis Dillman and Gaylen about facade easements and that dead- <br />line is not until October. <br />Ms. Peck informed the Commission about the Essory History, a series <br />of three books, and said she was told the Commission only needed one - <br />The History of St. Joseph County. The book seller won't break up this <br />set and they are $70.00 for the set. Mr. Nimtz said the author was <br />excellent and these are well-known books. Mrs. Price said she didn't <br />think the Essory history was worth $70.00. There was some discussion <br />
