South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Reschedule4 Regular Meeting - April 13, 1989
6. NEW "INESS (Cont.)
3 say "I don't want to continue at
location. I want to move to
.", and we'd still provide the same
ration benefits. But generally
ever they want to move, we would
with that business or property
r to help them find a new location.
other option, is that the
development Commission does not decide
go along with the Plan, and that is
Slv for them to decide.
Carol Collins: Good evening. My name CAROL COLLINS
is Carol Collins. I'd like to make it
clear, first of all, that I am not a
member of the WWCRP. I am not a member
o any of the organizations that have
represented themselves here tonight, but
I am a concerned neighbor. I live on
Jackson Street, a block off Western
Avenue. I bought a house in the west
because it is where I could afford
tc i live. I am here tonight because I am
cc ncerned about the near west end
ne ighborhood. Blight is a cancer and it
reads. The west end neighborhood is
n t that far from my house. It takes
five blocks of me driving for me to be
at the corner of West Washington and
We lnut Street. I am not afraid to drive
that neighborhood. Probably I should
but I am not. The trickle -down
affect works for everybody. And I am
that people in opposition to
this do not see what the area that they
are involved in is causing to my area
and the areas around West Washington.
I
ieard several tents made tonight
)ut my area which were not true, by
way. We are surviving just fine.
are not a Polish neighborhood
.more. We are very racially mixed.
are socially mixed,
:io- econanically mixed. I am very
:isfied with that for my
11-v
