Thank BOBBY NEWBILL K, Commissioners, for this opportunity speak, and people in the audience, listening. My name is Bobby ►bill. I'm a minority entrepreneur in 1300 block of West Washington eet. My family is a family of Finesses in the 1200 block of West hington Street since 1960. We were of those businesses that developed West Washington Street, yet we did leave. We're still there and we're )ing now for progress and our itinued existence along West b ngton Street. It is unfortunate Lt Ms. Braboy and Mr. Ellison support RP, therefore asking for our Koval. In Mr. Ellison's case, we say mother influenced his decision. As Dr. Butts, whose side would he be on his business was up for demolishing. the minority conmercial business and perty owners of 1200 and 1300 West ,hington Street, would like to make a nt perfectly clear. We do want a nge. But we want to be part of that nge on West Washington. We are tired blight and crime. And we alone stand I we, alone, are not responsible for slum appearance of our cannercial strict. We can only take same of the Mme. Some neglect rests with the City I some neglect lies with the resident, ressful majority contractor. I would e to pass these pictures to the amissioners to show them the neglect caused by the City and/or a major ority contractor. We feel that any vitalization along West Washington -eet should most naturally have the .sting business as a vital part of t effort. After all, the Mayor ently stated on TV that the City's :ention along the Studebaker Corridor to preserve the existing businesses. can't we, then, have this same atment. We note, as the only -34-
