South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting— December 19, 2003
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. Public Hearings
(3) continued...
are there. The dollars and a formal
organized effort to redevelop the
neighborhood are not there. Mr. Tiller
stated that being aware of previous plans and
the shelved status of those plans, he is
encouraged by the proposed Northeast
Neighborhood Development Plan and
requests a favorable recommendation.
Mr. John Ryal, a resident of Napoleon
Street, has lived in the northeast
neighborhood for thirteen years. Mr. Ryal
conveyed his confidence in the future of the
neighborhood and supports any efforts to
keep the momentum moving forward
regarding improvements of the area.
Mr. Hunt asked if there was anyone else
from the public who wished to speak. There
being no one else from the public who
wished to speak regarding Resolution
No. 2021, Mr. Hunt closed the Public
Hearing for whatever action the Commission
wished to take.
Mr. Hunt commented that it was clear there
was a great deal of neighborhood
participation in the development of the
proposed plan, and complemented staff
efforts in the further implementation of the
plan. Mr. Hunt noted that it was essential to
involve the neighbors themselves in the
revitalization process and charged the staff
to continue that practice for the benefit of
the entire community.
37
