South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -July 20, 2007
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
A. Public Hearings
continue ...
additional things in that Miami Corridor that
we couldn't have done before.
Mr. Wolfson: What would those be, Chuck?
Mr. Leone: I don't know that there's been a
specific plan with respect to additional kinds
of programs. Each of the corridors sets its
own plans, deciding what's best for that
corridor. It then applies for the corridor
funds, which I believe are COIT funds.
But we think the Commission's mechanisms
are more flexible and more effective in terms
of being able to get the money to the places it
needs to go. It's really a question of
mechanics rather than programs at this point.
Ms. Wolfson: I'm in agreement with what
Marty said. But if I could just add one
additional question because I don't believe it
was when it was discussed before this body; I
believe it was when the previous resolution
that was just passed was discussed at the
Common Council meeting, the presentation
specifically said that the corridors could
not/would not (because we raised the
question of Lincolnway West because it's
such an important part of the LaSalle Square
area) and the question was raised and we
were told that the corridors would not be
included in the expansion of the TIF. So,
now I'm confused about a different corridor
being .... I' m not for or against it. I agree
with why this is a case of not knowing what's
going on, so that we can't really have an
opinion, intelligently. That is a specific
30
