Parking areas should be <br /> broken into smaller "cells" or "pods" that are defined by buildings, <br /> landscaping, and pedestrian paths <br /> (l) Parking areas for commercial/mixed-use buildings should be located at <br /> least fifteen feet (15') from all building fagades. A two-and-a-half foot (2- <br /> 1/2x) car overhang, five foot (5) sidewalk, and landscaping should be <br /> incorporated into this area. <br /> (J) Where alleys are used in a commercial/mixed-use area as a means for <br /> access to and from parking areas, they should be designed in an efficient <br /> and attractive manner. Alleys should be easily recognizable by motorists <br /> as an alley and not a local street. Such alleys must be at least eighteen feet <br /> (l8') wide. <br /> (K) Attractive materials and design features should be used to minimize the <br /> "hard" appearance of driveways and parking lots. <br /> (L) The use of decorative paving is encouraged and should be used to <br /> delineate pedestrian crossings and parking access points within parking <br /> lots. <br /> 37 <br />
