(ii) Cinder/concrete block, metal, plywood, unfinished pre-cast or <br /> poured-in-place concrete are prohibited on any residential building <br /> facades except for basement foundation walls between the first <br /> floor sill plate and grade, where concrete, concrete masonry, brick, <br /> stone or stucco is permitted.. <br /> (iii) Roofs, if sloped, must be clad in cedar wood shake, fiberglass <br /> shingles, asphalt shingles, slate shingles, clay tile or other <br /> recognized residential roofing material. Sheet or roll-type roofing <br /> is prohibited. <br /> (iv) When used, asphalt or fiberglass shingles with a "shadow <br /> line" effect are encouraged, as long as they meet or exceed local <br /> building codes. <br /> (D) Multi-Family Residential Colors <br /> (i) Natural tones/hues and traditional colors of the NNDA must be <br /> used for the main portion of building facades and roof forms. <br /> Neutral earth tones (beige to brown), shades of gray, traditional <br /> colors (brick red, dark green, navy blue), or light, subdued hues are <br /> also acceptable. <br /> (ii) Contrasting and complimentary accent colors compatible with the <br /> colors listed above, are acceptable for secondary or accent colors. <br /> (iii) Primary colors, bright, or excessively brilliant colors are prohibited <br /> but may be used sparingly for subtle trim accents. <br /> (iv) Roof colors must complement the building's primary color. Roof <br /> colors may be a natural finish. Galvanized steel is prohibited. <br /> (E) Multi-Family Residential Projections <br /> (i) Projected residential entrance features can take various forms, but <br /> must remain consistent with the overall architectural character and <br /> massing/form of the building. <br /> (ii) Attached dwelling units must have street-facing, individual entries, <br /> and porches along the primary frontage are required. Porches <br /> should, wherever feasible, incorporate piers or columns that <br /> complement the architectural character of the house. Piers should <br /> be constructed of brick, decorative concrete masonry, wood, or <br /> stone.
