(xii) Front doors, mailboxes, and windows to major rooms must face the <br /> primary street. Walkways leading to the front door, separate from <br /> the driveway, are encouraged. <br /> (B) Multi-Family Residential Fenestration <br /> (i) Buildings must provide fenestration on fagades facing primary and <br /> secondary streets. Exposed, blank walls are prohibited. <br /> (ii) Door and window shapes must be rectangular (and must be <br /> vertically oriented), square, or Palladian. Round, hexagon, and <br /> octagonal shapes are allowed only as accents. <br /> (iii) Dormer windows are encouraged where appropriate to the <br /> architectural style of the roof form. <br /> (iv) The front door and porch elements, if applicable, must be the <br /> dominant feature on the front fagade of the unit and must remain <br /> consistent with the building's architectural style or character. <br /> (v) All exterior doors, especially the front door, are encouraged to <br /> have a variety of details including panels, windows, sidelights, or <br /> transoms. <br /> (vii) Doors and windows must be made of painted aluminum, wood, <br /> vinyl or fiberglass. Clear glass is preferred, tinted glass is <br /> acceptable; mirrored glass is prohibited. <br /> (viii) Mill finish (non-colored) aluminum or metal door and window <br /> frames are prohibited. <br /> (ix) If a building has window shutters, they must be sized and shaped <br /> to match the associated opening, and must be mounted against the <br /> outside edge of the window. Window shutters must be either <br /> louvered or paneled, and made of painted wood, metal, vinyl, or <br /> fiberglass. <br /> (x) Solid metal security gates, metal rolldown windows, and link/grill <br /> security devices are prohibited in all windows and doorways. <br /> (C) Multi-Family Residential Materials <br /> (i) Wood or cement fiber siding/shake, stucco, and brick or stone <br /> masonry are the preferred primary building materials for new <br /> residential structures and additions. Use of locally-quarried stone <br /> as an accent material is encouraged. <br /> 17 <br />
