<br />Request for owners of sub -standard properties to appear before Board 7/7/69
<br />Upon motion made seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of the Sub -Standards Director for the following owners of sub -standard
<br />p.,roperties to appear before it on July 7, 1969, to show cause why such*
<br />properties should not be demolished:
<br />Dan Clemans - 661 LaPorte Avenue
<br />Jack Shapiro - 417 S. William Street
<br />Neuberne H. and Myron Brown - 1213 Clover Street
<br />CHARGES FILED AGAINST FIREMAN JOHN J. GADACZ
<br />Charges of violating Regulation Article XIV, Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the South
<br />Bend Fire Department were filed against fireman John J. Gadacz by Fire Chief
<br />Joseph L. Zurat, and a hearing was set for 4:30 P.M. on Monday, June 30, 1969,
<br />in Room 10, City Hall.
<br />REQUEST TO. ATTEND CONFERENCE alit ZION, ILLINOIS - CHIEF BUSSERT
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, permission is given
<br />for Division Chief Loren M. Busse.rt to attend the first Midwest Regional
<br />Organized Crime Training Conference in Zion, Illinois, from July 13 through
<br />July 1.7, upon the invitation of the United'States Department of Justice,
<br />Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, Organized Crime Programs Division,
<br />Washington, D. C.
<br />RESIGNATION FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT - MARTIN ZUROFF
<br />The resignation of Martin Zuroff from the South Bend Police Department,
<br />effective June 25, 1969, was submitted by Chief of Police Thomas H. McNaughton
<br />and, upon. motion made, seconded and unah1mousiy carried, was accepted and
<br />approved by the Board.
<br />COMPLAINT AGAINST MRS. KENNETH HURLEY, 931 S. EDISON STREET
<br />Complaint filed with the Board on June 2 by residents on S.' Edison Street
<br />against Mrs. Kenneth Hurley because of the unkempt condition of the premises
<br />at 931 S. Edison Street, which property is also under surveillance by the
<br />Sub -Standards Division, was further continued for one week. Mrs. Hurley
<br />having been injured in an accident and in the hospital, the Sub -Standards
<br />Director is requested to contact the Welfare Department for a 'representative
<br />to appear before the Board.
<br />PRELIMINARY HEARING - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3291 - CURTIS E. GERBER
<br />This being the date set, preliminary hearing was held on Vacation Resolution
<br />No. 3291, being for the vacation of:
<br />A portion of the first east -west alley lying south of Hildreth
<br />Street and west from the west line of Twyckenham Drive,
<br />described as follows: Beginning at the northeast corner of Lot
<br />32, Euclid Park, South Bend, Indiana; thence west 111.5 feet to
<br />the northwest corner of Lot 32; thence north 14 feet to the
<br />southwest corner of Lot 31; thence east 111.5 feet to the south-
<br />eastcorner of Lot 31; thence south 14 feet to the place of be-
<br />ginning.
<br />Also, a portion of the first east -west alley north of Northside
<br />Boulevard, running east from the north -south alley east of
<br />Clover Street described as follows: Beginning at the southwest
<br />corner of Lot 37, Euclid Park; thence east 55.75 feet along the
<br />south line of said Lot 37; thence south 14 feet to the northeast
<br />corner of Lot 39; thence west 55.75 feet to the northwest corner
<br />of said Lot 39; thence north 14 feet to the southwest corner of
<br />Lot 37, the place of beginning.
<br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication i-n the South Bend Tribuee and
<br />the Tri County News on June 13 and June 20, 1969, which were read and 'found
<br />to be proper.
<br />Attorney William Farabaugh, attorney for the petitioner, appeared before
<br />the Board. There being no remonstrances and no one further appearing for
<br />or against said vacation, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried,
<br />said Resolution was finally adopted.
