9/28/70 <br />REQUEST OF MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY ASSOCIATION TO SOLICIT FUNDS AND USE FIRE <br />STATIONS AS COLLECTION POINTS. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried , the Board approved the rquest <br />of the Muscular Dystrophy Association to solicit funds on November 15, <br />1970 and to use Fire Stations as their collection points. The matter <br />was referred for cooperation to Chief Joseph Zurat of the Fire Depart- <br />ment. <br />REQUEST TO HOLD PARADE - RIVER PARK BUSINESSMEN'S ASSOCIATION, <br />The River Park Businessmen's Association brought a request fefore the <br />Board to hold a parade of the John Adams High School Football Band on <br />October 2, 1970 at 4:00 P.M., beginning at Logan Street and 36th Street <br />on Mishawaka Avenue, proceeding down Mishawaka Avenue to Twyckenham <br />Drive, a right turn north onto Twyckenham to Wall Street, and right <br />on Wall Street and into the Adams High School Gate. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried the request was approved and <br />referred to the Traffic Engineering Department and the Police Department <br />for coordination. <br />REQUEST OF THE KIWANIS CLUB TO SELL POPCORN IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA <br />Mr. Loyal Bare appeared before the Board to request that the Kiwanis <br />Club of South Bend be allowed to sell popcorn in the downtown area <br />on October 17, 1970. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />Board approved the request with the stipulation that the Kiwanis would <br />contact the Pilot Club to resolve which organization, if either, would <br />choose an alternate date. A photo -copy of this request was forewarded <br />on September 24, 1970 to the Charitable Solicitations Commission. <br />REQUEST OF THE PILOT CLUB TO SELL CANDY IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board granted approval of <br />the request of the Pilot Club of South Bend to sell candy in the down- <br />town area on October 17, 1970, subject to the approval of the Charitable <br />Solicitations Commission. <br />It was suggested that- the Pilot Club confer with the" Kiwanis Club to <br />determine which organization, if either, would choose and alternate <br />date for their solicitations. <br />A photo -copy of this request was forewarded to the Charitable Solici- <br />tations Commission on September 24, 1970. <br />CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE FOR VALLEY CABLEVISIO N CORPORATION <br />A certificate of insurance for the Valley Cablevision Corporation with <br />the Buckeye Union Insurance Company was approved by the Board, upon a <br />motion made, seconded and carried. <br />CONTRACTOR'S BOND FOR GI:LBERT HARWELL <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, a contractor's bond 'for Gilbert <br />Harwell with the Western Surety Company was approved by the Board. <br />CONTRACTOR'S BOND FOR THE TONY MILLER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved and granted <br />a contractor's bond for the Tony Miller Construction Company with the <br />Reliance Insurance Company. <br />EXCAVATION BOND FOR HENRY M. SCHOTT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved an excavation <br />bond for Henry M. Schott through the American States Insurance Company. <br />
