221 <br />2/28/72 <br />Mr. Donald Decker, Street Commissioner, presented letters asking <br />that the clerk advertise for bids for Two (2) b passenger Wagons <br />and One (1) Four Door Sedan for the Street Department, as well <br />as Street Repair Materials for 1972, for which he presented spec- <br />ifications. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the <br />Board approved his request and instructed the Clerk to advertise <br />for the vehicles and street repair materials, with bids to be <br />returnable March 13, 1972. <br />LETTER FROM REDEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT RE: - POLK STREET <br />February 22, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />Room 1312 County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />We have received a request that a street light be placed in Polk <br />Court, about half way between Colfax Avenue and Columbia Court. <br />Also, that a sign be placed on Polk Court identifying it as a <br />Street. <br />It sould also be called to the attention of the Street Department <br />to sweey this street occasionally since it is now paved. <br />Sincerely, <br />s/ Lloyd S. Taylor <br />Executive Director <br />LST:h <br />Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board <br />approved the above request and directed the Traffic Engineering <br />Department to order a light for Polk Street and the Street Department <br />to maintain it. Also a Street Sign was to be placed. <br />BID AWARDED - TRAFFIC ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board <br />awarded the bid for a 3/4 ton truck for the Traffic Department to <br />Gates Chevrolet Corporation, it being in the Boar:d's opinion the <br />best bid in the interest of the City of South Bend. <br />The Division of Traffic Engineering requested permission to send <br />one man and a city vehicle to Benton Harbor, Michigan during the <br />week of February 28th for the annual reconditioning of air motors <br />used on paint striping equipment. Upon motion duly made, seconded <br />and carried, the Board granted the request. <br />LETTER RE: PARKING METER REMOVAL <br />The following letter was presented to the Board: <br />February 28, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Subi.ect: Meter removal on 200 South St. Joseph Street <br />1 <br />1 <br />
