REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 13, 1976 <br />REQUEST FOR KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS MARCH <br />The Board received a request from the Knights of Columbus to <br />march from their building at 816 N. Michigan to the Monument <br />at the Court House in observance of Columbus Day on October 12, <br />1976 at 11:30 a.m. They also request a police escort. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the request was filed and referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting and the Police Department for review and recommendation. <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA APPLICATIONS <br />Ronald Bock, Director of River Bend Plaza, submitted the following <br />applications to the Board with his favorable recommendation: <br />A. Aktive Vacuum Sales and Service - September 16, 17 and 18. <br />Sale of hot dogs and cokes on the sidewalk at 329 S. Michigan. <br />from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the application was approved <br />subject to securing the necessary license and.filing a <br />Certificate of Insurance with the Board. <br />B. Security Control Systems, Inc. - Display in the Osco block <br />on September 23 and 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the application was approved and Mr. Bock was directed to <br />check with Ralph Wadzinski in regard to parking the display unit. <br />C. Sunny Day Concert - September 23, 1976 - noon to 3:00 p.m. <br />in the Baer's Block. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded <br />by Mr. Mullen and carried, the application was approved. . <br />Mr. Brunner noted that this is a non -union group and said <br />there had been a previous policy on River Bend Plaza, regarding <br />activities by non -union musical groups. Mr. Brunner requested <br />that Mr. Mullen investigate this matter and determine what the <br />policy is and if it should be continued. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />Ralph Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of.Traffic and Lighting, <br />recommended the following traffic control installations to the Board: <br />1. <br />Stop <br />signs <br />to be <br />installed on 21st <br />Street at Mishawaka Avenue. <br />2. <br />Stop <br />signs <br />to be <br />installed on 20th <br />Street at Nor.thside <br />3. <br />Stop <br />signs <br />to be <br />installed on 21st <br />Street at Pleasant Street. <br />Upon motion made by.Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the installations were approved. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - CENTURY CENTER FUEL OIL <br />Mr. Farrand noted that the City will need to purchase fuel oil <br />for the heating needs of Century Center and requested permission <br />to advertise for bids for 200,000 gallons of fuel oil for the <br />period of October 1, 1976 through December 31, 1977. Specifications <br />were submitted. Mr. Mullen asked whether the city could now bid <br />fuel requirements and Mr. Farrand said it was his understanding that <br />the controls had been lifted. He said this is a new item not <br />purchased before and suppliers have indicated that they could submit <br />bids. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen <br />and carried, the Board authorized the advertising for bids, with <br />sealed bids to be received on September 27, 1976. <br />
