402 REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 30, 1982 REQUEST FOR STREET CLOSINGS REFERRED - EDGEWATER PLACE HISTORIC TOUR A request was received from Lora Spaulding, Vice -President of Southhold Restorations and Co -Chairman of the Edgewater Place Historic Tour, for permission to close the following streets for a tour of historic homes on September 26, 1982, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.: Edgewater from Monroe to Bronson River from Monroe to Arch Monroe from Lincolnway East to Edgewater Arch from Lincolnway East to Edgewater Bronson from Edgewater to the. -alley running between River and Lincolnway East Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Light- ing and the Police Traffic Division for review and recommendation. REQUESTS FOR ROAD RUNS The following requests for road runs were submitted to the Board: Sportsmed 10K Run - Sponsored by St. Joseph's Medical Center, November 7, 1982, starting at 12:00 noon, utilizing the same route as in 1981. Michiana Lung Run - Sponsored by the American Lung Association, June 11, 1982, starting at 8:00 a.m., utilizing same route as in past years. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above requests were referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Traffic Division for review and recommendation. APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUEST Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Light- ing, recommended approval of the request of Thomas Lue, 1430 East Miner Street, to conduct. a block party in the 600 block of Studebaker Street on Monday, September 6, 1982, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. It was noted that Mr. Lue represented the Y-Knot Shack which had plans to sponsor a picnic on Labor Day. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was approved subject to the maintenance of a 12-foot lane at either curb or down the center of the street for emergency purposes. REQUESTS REFERRED TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTIES Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the following requests to purchase city -owned properties were referred to the various city agencies for a determination as to whether or not the city need retain the lots for any reason: 1608 Prairie - Request to purchase received from: Yvonne Cannady 1614 Prairie Avenue South Bend, Ind. 634 Keasey - Request to purchase received from: Bettie Williams 1013 Lindsey South Bend, Ind. 1237 Van Buren - Request to purchase received from: Richard Chambliss 1243 Van Buren South Bend, Ind. 1
