402 <br />REGULAR <br />MEETING <br />AUGUST 30, <br />1982 <br />REQUEST <br />FOR STREET CLOSINGS REFERRED <br />- EDGEWATER PLACE HISTORIC <br />TOUR <br />A request was received from Lora Spaulding, Vice -President of <br />Southhold Restorations and Co -Chairman of the Edgewater Place <br />Historic Tour, for permission to close the following streets <br />for a tour of historic homes on September 26, 1982, between the <br />hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.: <br />Edgewater from Monroe to Bronson <br />River from Monroe to Arch <br />Monroe from Lincolnway East to Edgewater <br />Arch from Lincolnway East to Edgewater <br />Bronson from Edgewater to the. -alley running <br />between River and Lincolnway East <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Light- <br />ing and the Police Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />REQUESTS FOR ROAD RUNS <br />The following requests for road runs were submitted to the Board: <br />Sportsmed 10K Run - Sponsored by St. Joseph's Medical <br />Center, November 7, 1982, starting at 12:00 noon, <br />utilizing the same route as in 1981. <br />Michiana Lung Run - Sponsored by the American Lung <br />Association, June 11, 1982, starting at 8:00 a.m., <br />utilizing same route as in past years. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above requests were referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting and the Police Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUEST <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Light- <br />ing, recommended approval of the request of Thomas Lue, 1430 East <br />Miner Street, to conduct. a block party in the 600 block of <br />Studebaker Street on Monday, September 6, 1982, from 12:00 noon <br />to 7:00 p.m. It was noted that Mr. Lue represented the Y-Knot <br />Shack which had plans to sponsor a picnic on Labor Day. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the request was approved subject to the maintenance of a 12-foot <br />lane at either curb or down the center of the street for emergency <br />purposes. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTIES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the following requests to purchase city -owned properties <br />were referred to the various city agencies for a determination as <br />to whether or not the city need retain the lots for any reason: <br />1608 Prairie - Request to purchase received from: <br />Yvonne Cannady <br />1614 Prairie Avenue <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />634 Keasey - Request to purchase received from: <br />Bettie Williams <br />1013 Lindsey <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />1237 Van Buren - Request to purchase received from: <br />Richard Chambliss <br />1243 Van Buren <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />1 <br />
