<br />REQUEST TO HAVE STREET CLOSED FOR CHURCH PICNIC -
<br />MAC PHERSON STREET (AUGUST 5, 1983)'REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Rev. Eric P. Ruggiano, C.S.C.,
<br />Associate Pastor of St. Stephen Church, 1102 West Thomas
<br />Street, South Bend, requested permission to close McPherson
<br />Street from Thomas Street to the alley behind the Church
<br />property for the purpose of holding the parish ethnic
<br />picnic. The picnic will be held on August 5, 1983 from
<br />3 p.m. through Sunday, August 7, 1983. Upon'a motion made
<br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the
<br />above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and
<br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for
<br />review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO HAVE STREET CLOSED FOR CHURCH ETHNIC
<br />FESTIVAL ADAMS STREET (JULY 30,'1983) REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Charles E. Stafford, Chairman,
<br />Ruth Sanders, Co -Chairman and Rev. Billy Kirk, Pastor of
<br />the Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 101 Adams
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to have
<br />Adams Street, from one end to the other, (100 block) blocked
<br />off for the purpose of conducting the church ethnic festival
<br />on July 30, 1983. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was
<br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the
<br />Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - PORTAGE COURT
<br />(JULY 31, 1983) REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Nathaniel Madison indicated that
<br />several residents on the City's near northwest side are plan-
<br />ning a cookout and birthday party on July 31, 1983 from
<br />4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 821 Ashland and would like a
<br />portion of Portage Court on the east end where no houses
<br />face each, blocked.off. He further indicated that blocking
<br />the east end of Portage Court would not cause a traffic tie-
<br />up because cars can use the adjoining alley that has an
<br />outlet to Rex Street on one end and Leland Avenue on the
<br />other. The other end of Portage Court, which leads to
<br />Portage Avenue, would still be open to traffic. Upon a
<br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of
<br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic
<br />Division for review and recommendation.

<br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - UNION AVENUE
<br />(AUGUST 14, 1983) REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, June A. Fox, 2401 Union Avenue,
<br />South Bend, requested permission on behalf of the Union
<br />Avenue neighbors that the 2300 and 2400 blocks of Union
<br />Avenue be closed between Solomon and MacArthur on Sunday,
<br />August 14, 1983 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the purpose
<br />of conducting a summer block party. Upon a motion made by
<br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the
<br />above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and
<br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for
<br />review and recommendation.
