REGULAR MEETING MARCH 14, 1983 <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that seven (7) .traffic control <br />devices as recommended by Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager <br />of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, were being <br />presented to the Board for approval. He furtherstated <br />that the traffic control devices all relate to the Olive/ <br />Sample Overpass Construction project. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />following traffic control devices were approved: <br />INSTALL NO PARKING - (1) Walnut -Sample to Ford <br />(2) Ford St. - Walnut to Dundee (3) Dundee, <br />Camden, Liberty, Bendix, Kaley - from <br />Western to Sample. <br />REMOVE YIELD SIGN - On Olive and Sample. <br />REMOVE YIELD SIGN - On Dunham at Olive. <br />REMOVE STOP SIGN - On Meade at Sample. <br />REMOVE YIELD SIGN - Cut-off Lane, S.E. Quadrant <br />Olive/Sample. <br />REMOVE SNOW ROUTE (TEMPORARY) - Olive Street <br />(Davis to Ford Street) <br />REMOVE SNOW ROUTES (TEMPORARY) - On Sample <br />Street from Grant to Bendix. <br />APPROVE MICHIANA BLOOD DONOR RUN RACE - MAY 8, 1983 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised the Board that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, <br />Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the <br />request of the South Bend Medical Foundation, Inc. to <br />conduct the Michiana Blood Donor Run Race to be held on <br />Sunday, May 8, 1983 and recommends approval of this event. <br />The Michiana Blood Donor Run Race Committee requests the <br />site of Pinhook Park as the start and finish point of three <br />(3) separate events, all of which will run simultaneously,. <br />as follows: <br />1. A 2-mile relay (0.5 mile segments) to be run <br />on a 0.5 mile course completely within the park. <br />2. A 4-mile course proceding south from Pinhook <br />down Riverside to a turnaround point near the <br />Riverside Apartments. <br />3. A 10-mile course proceding south along Riverside <br />to the same turnaround as above, back north to <br />Boland, west on Boland to Portage, north on <br />Portage to Cleveland, east on Cleveland to <br />Riverside, south on Riverside to about the <br />same turnaround point as before, and north <br />back to Pinhook. <br />It was noted that approval of the 2-mile relay that is to <br />be run completely within Pinhook Park must be given by the <br />Board of Park Commissioners. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the above request was approved as recommended, <br />subject to the filing of the appropriate insurance. <br />
