the lens surface of the LED indication. <br />5. Signal head mounting hardware (i.e. weather head, balance adjuster, <br />mid -mast assembly, disconnect hanger, horizontal pipe arm and <br />clamps) found to be worn or damaged shall be noted by the CITY and <br />the same reported in writing to INDOT. Wires shall not be closed in <br />doors. Sockets shall not be tightened into terminal strips. Lamps <br />shall not be overtightened or undertightened. Aligning of signal <br />heads will not be permitted unless the appropriate set screw, nut, <br />bolt, or screw is also tightened. A tool appropriate for tightening <br />shall be used for aligning signal heads, replacing lenses, replacing <br />visors, or making adjustments. The repairs shall be made as ordered <br />by INDOT as non -routine maintenance and charged as non -routine <br />maintenance. <br />6. Signal bulbs for optically programmable signal indications shall not <br />be changed -out annually. They shall only be changed -out in case of a <br />burned out or destroyed bulb. In the case of burned out bulbs for <br />optically programmable signals, all costs shall be included in <br />"Routine Maintenance" unit rates. <br />c. Red Arrow Signal Indications <br />In accordance with the 2011 Indiana MUTCD, red arrow signal indications <br />shall be installed at three -section head protected left -turn signals as <br />follows: <br />1. When it is feasible to replace a circular red incandescent signal <br />indication with an LED indication, the circular red shall be <br />replaced with a red arrow indication. <br />2. When it is necessary to replace a circular red LED signal <br />indication, the circular red shall be replaced with a red arrow <br />indication. <br />Any existing "LEFT ON ARROW ONLY" signs shall be removed at the time a <br />circular red indication is replaced with a red arrow indication. A <br />standard "LEFT ON GREEN ARROW ONLY" (R10-5) sign is not required but <br />may remain in place. <br />d. Conflict Monitor Change -out Testing <br />The CITY shall test all conflict monitors or malfunction management <br />units installed on traffic signals listed in Exhibit "A" annually. The <br />following information shall be supplied by the CITY to INDOT upon <br />completion: <br />1.
