110 <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 9, 1987 <br />APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUESTS: <br />- DALE STREET (BETWEEN ECKMAN & IRVINGTON <br />- 900 BLOCK NORTH ADAMS STREET <br />- STANFIELD AVE. (BETWEEN ST. VINCENT & NAPOLEON) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the <br />above referred to block party requests submitted to the Board on <br />May 19, 1987, May 26, 1987 and June 2, 1987, and recommend <br />approval subject to the maintenance of a ten foot (101) clear and <br />unobstructed lane at either curb or down the center of the street <br />for emergency purposes. It was noted that the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting will deliver the barricades necessary to close the <br />street and the Petitioner will be responsible for their placement <br />and removal at the conclusion of the block party. Upon a motion <br />made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, <br />the recommendations were accepted and the requests approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SPECIAL OLYMPICS GAMES <br />FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL ASSISTANCE - JULY 31-AUGUST 8 1987 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to <br />the Board on May 19, 1987 and recommend approval It was noted <br />that assistance will be provided by the Police Department and the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Additionally, the City <br />Attorney's office has advised that should the Torch Run take <br />place on the streets rather than the sidewalks, insurance will be <br />required. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. <br />Leszczynski and carried, the recommendations as submitted were <br />accepted and the request approved. <br />APPRnVR. RR <br />Mr. Leszczynski aavisea that Ms. Dorothy <br />Liturgy Committee, St. Stanislaus Bishop <br />Church, 415 North Brookfield, South Bend, <br />a request to close the following streets <br />from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on June 21, <br />A. Jeske, Secretary, <br />and Martyr Catholic <br />Indiana, has submitted <br />for a parish procession <br />1987: <br />Brookfield Street from Florence to Fassnacht; <br />Fassnacht Street from Brookfield to Johnson; <br />Johnson Street from Fassnacht to Florence; <br />Florence Street from Johnson to Brookfield <br />Mr. Leszczynski further advised that the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, Police Department Traffic Division and City Attorney's <br />office have reviewed this request and recommend approval. The <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting advised that the Petitioner will <br />be responsible for the placement of the barricades necessary to <br />close the above named streets. Also, the City Attorney's office <br />has advised that insurance requirements must be met for this <br />event. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the above recommendations were accepted and the <br />request approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF PROGRESSIVE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH TO <br />CONDUCT CHRISTIAN "WALK-A-THON" - JUNE 13 1987 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the necessary City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to <br />the Board on May 26, 1987 and recommend approval. It was noted <br />that participants must obey all traffic regulations and stay on <br />the sidewalks.
