<br />neighborhood block party. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above request was
<br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police
<br />Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1034 EAST CEDAR STREET
<br />- REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Charles Rupley, 16974 Douglas,
<br />Mishawaka, Indiana, advised that he owns the property at 1032
<br />East Cedar Street and would therefore like to purchase the
<br />City -owned property at 1034 East Cedar Street. Upon a motion
<br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried,
<br />the above request was referred to the necessary City departments
<br />and bureaus for a determination as to whether or not the City
<br />need retain the lot for any reason.
<br />REOUEST TO CHANGE THE NAME OF JEFFERSON BOULEVARD TO CONSTITUTION
<br />AVENUE FROM SEPTEMBER 16-27. 1987 TO COMMEMORATE BICENTENNIAL OF
<br />U.S. CONSTITUTION - REFERRED
<br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mikki Dobski, Office of
<br />Community Affairs, requested permission to change the name of
<br />Jefferson Boulevard to Constitution Avenue from September 16-27,
<br />1987 to commemorate the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq
<br />and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City
<br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE 1500-1700 BLOCKS OF SUNNYMEDE AVENUE FOR
<br />NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - JULY 5, 1987 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. John F. Waldron, 1632 Sunnymede
<br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to blockade the
<br />1500-1700 blocks of Sunnymede Avenue, from Twyckenham to
<br />Greenlawn Streets on Saturday, July 4, 1987 from 10:00 a.m. to
<br />6:00 p.m. for a neighborhood block party. The rain date set for
<br />the party is Sunday, July 5, 1987. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request
<br />was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police
<br />Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE WOODWARD AVENUE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY -
<br />JUNE 27, 1987 - REFERRED
<br />Dr. Patrick T. Malone, 1233 Woodward, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />requested permission to close Woodward Avenue, from Yukon to
<br />Hudson on June 27, 1987, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a
<br />neighborhood block party. A rain date of June 28, 1987 has been
<br />set. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs.
<br />DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of
<br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division
<br />for review and recommendation.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF
<br />ABANDONED VEHICLES
<br />Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code
<br />Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of
<br />approximately twenty-one (21) abandoned vehicles, which are being
<br />stored at Steve & Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109
<br />South Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that
<br />all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days,
<br />identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners
<br />and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above request was
<br />approved and a date of June 23, 1987 was established for the
<br />receiving and opening of sealed bids.
