246 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 13. 1990 <br />referred to location. The Engineering Department has now advised <br />that the canopy to be installed will not encroach onto the public <br />right-of-way and therefore Board of Public Works approval of the. <br />installation is not required. <br />APPROVE REQUESTS TO CLOSE STREETS: <br />- OF GRACE A.M.E. ZION CHURCH TO CLOSE VASSAR, FROM CLEVELAND TO <br />BLAINE AND BLAINE, FROM CALIFORNIA TO VASSAR, IN CONJUNCTION WITH <br />CHURCH FUN FAIR - AUGUST 18, 1990 <br />Ms. Luella Harris, 702 LaPorte Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, on <br />behalf of the Grace A.M.E. Church, 1211 Vassar Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, submitted an Application for Use of and Blocking <br />of Access to Public Right -of -Way for a Party or Similar Event <br />requesting that Vassar, from Cleveland to Blaine and Blaine, from <br />California to Vassar, be closed on Saturday, August 18, 1990 from <br />11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in conjunction with the church fun fair. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that this request be approved. <br />Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />- OF LAYMEN CHAPEL TO CLOSE KENMORE, FROM WESTERN TO JEFFERSON, <br />IN CONJUNCTION WITH CHURCH CARNIVAL - AUGUST 18, 1990 <br />Rev. Phillip D. Washington, Laymen Chapel, 303 South Kenmore, <br />South Bend, Indiana, requested that the 300 block of South <br />Kenmore, which is Kenmore from Western to Jefferson, be closed on <br />August 18, 1990, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. in conjunction <br />with a carnival that will take place on the properties of the <br />Church. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed this request and approval is recommended at <br />this time. Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the <br />recommendation be accepted and the request be approved. Ms. <br />Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUESTS OF NORTHERN HISTORICAL SOCIETY FOR: <br />- NO PARKING/BUS LOADING ZONE SIGNS IN THE 100 BLOCK OF CHAPIN <br />STREET AND <br />- PLACEMENT OF COPSHALOLM HOUSE MUSEUM SIGNS IN THE PUBLIC <br />RIGHT-OF-WAY <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to requests which were <br />submitted to the Board on June 26, 1990 and July 9, 1990 and <br />approval is recommended at this time. Mr. Leszczynski made a <br />motion that the recommendations be accepted and the requests be <br />approved. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE TITLE SHEET - CLYDE CREEK IMPROVEMENTS - IRONWOOD-IRELAND <br />DETENTION BASIN <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Title Sheet for the above <br />referred to project was being presented at this time for <br />execution. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the Title Sheet was approved and <br />signed. <br />FILING OF MONTHLY HUMANE SOCIETY REPORT - JULY <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Humane Society of St. Joseph <br />County, IN, Inc., has submitted the monthly report for the month <br />of July indicating the number and types of animals handled for <br />the City of South Bend. Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the <br />report as submitted be accepted for filing. Ms. Humphreys <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />
