0 • <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 2, 1990 <br />Change Order reflects a number of changes resulting in the above <br />mentioned increase. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, Change Order No. 1 was <br />approved and executed. <br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 - 27TH STREET LIFT STATION AT <br />NORTHSIDE BOULEVARD PROJECT <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Kaser-Spraker Construction, Inc., <br />25487 West State Road 2, South Bend, Indiana, submitted Change <br />Order No. 2 indicating that the Contract amount for the above <br />referred to project be increased by $3,083.00 for a new Contract <br />sum including this Change Order in the amount of $122,766.00. <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that this Change Order indicates that the <br />increase is due to the leaving in place the 2P-27 steel sheet <br />piling cofferdam in order to facilitate future work or repairs on <br />the lift station or wet well structure. Mrs. DeClercq made a <br />motion that the Change Order as submitted be approved. Ms. <br />Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST OF CITY AWNING TO INSTALL BACKLIT CANOPY AT 117 WEST <br />SOUTH STREET - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Robert L. Hinsch, City Awning of <br />South Bend, 1835 South Franklin Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested permission to install a backlit canopy at Knockers <br />Lounge (formerly The Spot) at 117 West South Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana. Mr. Hinsch submitted with his request drawings <br />indicating the frame and structure details. He noted that the <br />canopy will project four (4) feet out from the building and will <br />be ten (10) feet six (6) inches above the public sidewalk. Mr. <br />Leszczynski made a motion that this request be referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST OF EMPLOYMENT & TRAINING SERVICES FOR TWO (2) DESIGNATED <br />HANDICAPPED SPACES AT 115 NORTH WILLIAM STREET - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Juan A. Manigault, Executive <br />Director, Employment & Training Services of St. Joseph County, <br />115 North William Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that ETS <br />has recently moved its operation to 115 North William Street. He <br />noted that a new handicapped access ramp and entrance were <br />installed to accommodate the handicap participants in their <br />program as well as ETS employees. The ramp entrance is <br />approximately ten (10) feet from the street curb. Therefore, ETS <br />is requesting Board approval for two (2) designated on -street <br />handicapped parking places identified as such between the hours <br />of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Therefore, Mr. <br />Leszczynski made a motion that the request be referred to the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic <br />Division for review and recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REOUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS FOR VEHICLES <br />- 1990 POLICE VEHICLE FLEET <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Ronald G. Marciniak <br />submitted specifications for the 1990 Police Vehicle Fleet and <br />requested that the Board proceed with the necessary legal <br />requirements and cause the publishing of the Notice to Bidders. <br />Chief Marciniak noted that the City contemplates purchasing up to <br />twenty (20) vehicles. However, as the number of vehicles to be <br />purchased depends, in part, on the total cost to the City, the <br />vendor's bid should indicate the cost to the City should it <br />purchase anywhere from one (1) to twenty (20) vehicles, <br />inclusive. Chief Marciniak also noted that the Department <br />reserves the right to split the order between two (2) or more <br />dealers to allow for a variety of makes and styles as needed by <br />
