REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 25.1995 <br />the first north -south alley south of Oak Park Drive, running south from Oak Park Drive for a <br />distance of approximately 150 feet to that part of the northeast quarter of Section 6, Township 37 <br />North, Range 3 East, Portage Township, all in "Wooded Estates", in the City of South Bend, St. <br />Joseph County, Indiana. <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this <br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. <br />Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council <br />concerning this Vacation Petition. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />RECOMMENDATION TABLED - TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY - <br />INSTALLATION OF MEMORIAL MONUMENT. <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board has received favorable recommendations from the Division of <br />Engineering, Police Department, City Attorney's Office, Building Commissioner and the <br />Redevelopment Design Review Committee, in reference to the request to install a memorial <br />monument to Charles Martin, on the river side of Northside Boulevard, near the intersection of <br />Louise Street, in conjunction with the Northside Walkway/Bikeway which is being planned. Upon <br />a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the recommendation was <br />tabled, pending more information. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted <br />by Mr. Bill Borders, 946 Roosevelt Street, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to <br />block party, on Saturday, September 30,1995, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., on Sherman Street, <br />from Roosevelt to Beale Streets. Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell <br />and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT "WALK FOR HEALTH AND <br />HUNGER" <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted <br />by Ms. Myrtle C. Wilson, President, South Bend Area Chapter, The Links Incorporated to conduct <br />the above referred to "Walk for Health and Hunger", on Saturday, September 30, 1995, from 9:00 <br />a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, <br />seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - SECOND HAND DEALER <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the following Secondhand Dealers License Application has been received: <br />NAME: Rick's Budget Store <br />BY: Richard A. Konsavich <br />ADDRESS: 3015 West Sample Street <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF SELLING: Used furniture and appliances <br />Mr. Caldwell further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting, Department of Code Enforcement, Police Department and Fire Department <br />concerning the above application. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier <br />and carried, the above license application was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's <br />Office for issuance of a license. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT "KIDS ON A MISSION" <br />CANDLELIGHT WALK - HOPE RESCUE MISSION <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted <br />by Ms. Claudia Manning, Hope Rescue Mission, 532 South Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana <br />to conduct the above referred to walk, on Saturday, September 30, 1995, <br />
