<br />REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 25, 1995
<br />beginning at 11:45 p.m., designed to raise the consiousness of youth concerning the plight of needy
<br />people, on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by
<br />Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF REOUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - ORGANIC
<br />RESOURCES OFFICE UPGRADE - PROJECT NO. 95-71
<br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, requested
<br />permission to advertise for the sale of bids for the above referred to project. Therefore, upon a
<br />motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - INSTALLATION
<br />OF EXHAUST SYSTEM AT ALL FIRE STATIONS
<br />In a memorandum to the Board, Fire Chief Luther Taylor, requested permission to advertise for the
<br />sale of bids for the above referred to project. Chief Taylor stated that this project will be funded
<br />through the E.M.S. Capital Improvement Fund. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell,
<br />seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request was approved.
<br />REQUESTS REFERRED
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following requests
<br />were referred to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for recommendation:
<br />- TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY - INSTALLATION OF AWNINGS
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of a request from Ms. Kim Hauflaire, House of
<br />Advertising, 1631 Miami Street, South Bend, Indiana, to install two (2) awnings at Adams Remco,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, according to specifications as submitted.
<br />- TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY - INSTALLATION OF FREE STANDING
<br />SIGN
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of a request from Ms. Karen Curtis, North American
<br />Signs, Inc., 3601 West Lathrop, South Bend, Indiana, to install a free standing sign for
<br />Manufacturing Technology/Adams Engineering, 1702 West Washington, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />according to specifications as submitted.
<br />- TO CONDUCT ANNUAL "LIFE CHAIN" PRAYER
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Pete Welland, Life Chain Committee, requested permission to conduct
<br />their annual "Life Chain" prayer on Sunday, October 1,1995, beginning at 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.,
<br />on Ironwood Drive, between State Road 23 and Edison, on both sides of the street
<br />APPROVE CONTRACTOR AND EXCAVATION BONDS
<br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Engineer, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following
<br />Contractors and Excavation Bonds be approved as follows:

<br />Approved Retroactive to September 15, 1995
<br />Approved Retroactive to September 6, 1995
<br />EXCAVATION BONDS
<br />Underground Services Approved Retroactive to September 1, 1995
<br />LaFree Earth, Inc. Approved Retroactive to September 7, 1995
<br />Smith & Sons Excavating, Inc. Approved Retroactive to September 7, 1995
<br />Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and that the Bonds be approved
<br />as outlined above. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried.
