~~~ <br />?) .., <br />PUBLIC AGENDA SESSION <br />JUNE 13, 2006 <br />Stop and Frisk, Missing Persons, and Film: Digital, Polaroid and Video. Older Sections of <br />the Duty Manual are being updated. Traffic Citation Accountability and Film are new. Chief <br />Fautz indicated more General Orders will be forthcoming in the next few Board meetings. <br />Chief Fautz discussed the process of policy changes, and the method of "training the <br />trainers" to understand the intent of policy changes. Once the Duty Manual is updated, it will <br />be electronically available for access and review to the Board of Public Safety and police <br />officers. <br />- Monthly Statistical Analysis -April and May 2006 -Police Department <br />Mr. Bodnar stated the Monthly Statistics for May 2006 would be discussed along with the <br />Apri12006 statistics. Chief Fautz commented that the national trend for robberies, rape and <br />aggravated assaults are on the rise. South Bend is seeing an increase in rapes and robberies, <br />and a decrease in assaults. Chief Fautz noted that Crime Prevention is playing a great role in <br />educating the public on methods to decrease crime. <br />- Request for Retirement -Police Department <br />Chief Fautz indicated this individual has been employed by the South Bend Police <br />Department since 1968. In addition, there will be quite a few retirements in 2007. <br />Fire Chief Luther Taylor presented an overview of the operations and services of the South Bend Fire <br />Department. An organizational chart was presented, as well as explanations of duties of Fire <br />Department personnel. A five-year outlook for budgeting was noted. Chief Taylor briefly presented <br />a forty-acre design at the Michiana Regional Airport for a training facility for Fire and Police <br />Departments, which would be utilized for Region 2 District. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no fiirther business to come before the Board, President Rodriguez declared the meeting <br />adjourned at 8:48 a.m. <br />A TEST: <br />k ~ rat... <br />Angela . Jaco ,Clerk <br />EXECUTNE SESSION JUNE 13, 2006 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in Executive Session on Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at 8:49 a.m. The <br />meeting was held at the Central Fire Station, Main Floor Classroom, 1222 South Michigan Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, for the purposes specified in I.C. 5-14-1.5-6.1 (b) (2) (B) and (b) (6) (A). <br />President Jesusa Rodriguez and Board Members Juanita Dempsey, Donald Alford, Bruce J. <br />BonDurant and Patrick Cottrell were present. Also present were Police Chief Thomas Fautz, Fire <br />Chief Luther Taylor and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. City Attorney Chuck Leone was also <br />present. Board members did not discuss any subject matter other than the subject matter as specified <br />in the Public Notice.
