would have on the operations of the Park Department. He thanked the members of the <br />County and Common Councils for acting on this. The LOIT will narrow the revenue deficit <br />due to the property tax caps to $6.7 million from $24 million since the 2008 budget. He <br />stated that our share of cuts to the 2010 budget would be approximately $1.1 million. <br />2. There has been no capital budget approved as of yet for this year. He is hopeful some <br />money will be appropriated to address the department’s needs. <br />3. He wanted to clarify that the Potawatomi Park Outdoor Performing Arts Center is not <br />being funded by park or city funds. It is being funded by the Community Foundation and <br />Rotary International. <br />4. After the recent vandalism at Rum Village Park, Director St. Clair asked Police Chief <br />Boykins to increase patrols in parks that are considered problem areas. <br />5. He informed the Board that he was recently on the television program “Economic Outlook” <br />and was able to discuss the impact the Parks Department has on the community. <br /> <br /> <br />VIII.Comments by the Recreation Director <br /> <br />1. The Senior Picnic was held last Wednesday at Potawatomi Park and over 400 seniors <br />attended. <br />2. The Kid’s Triathlon has 432 participants registered for this Saturday’s race. There are 8 <br />spots left. <br />3. The Men’s Major National Softball Tournament will start on July 30 at Belleville and run <br />through August 2. The State C class Slow Pitch Coed Tournament will be held the <br />following weekend. <br />4. Pools will close August 9. <br />5. Sunday concerts are going well. <br /> <br /> <br />IX.Comments by the Golf Operations Director <br />1. Mr. Nowacki reported that were fourteen days of rain in June, which was less than April or <br />May. <br />2. Eight tournaments and seven outings were hosted during June. <br />3. The Men’s Metro was held at Elbel last weekend and the third round will be held at <br />Erskine this weekend. <br />4. Superintendent’s Outing will be held July 31 at Elbel. <br />5. Landscaping at Elbel and Erskine clubhouses is complete. <br />6. New tee markers will be installed this week. <br />7. Bowman Creek cleanup is almost complete at Studebaker. <br />President Henry asked for information concerning the Pro Link GPS system at the next <br />meeting. <br />Mr. Goodrich commented that the GPS system is working well. <br />He also added that the golf courses are in great shape and many participants in the Metro <br />Tournament also mentioned it. He wanted the greens superintendents to be informed of it. <br />Dr. Kelly expressed concern about reports he had heard that Blackthorn Golf Club was <br /> - - 3 - - <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
