In all buildings used jointly for residence <br />and business purposes separate and sufficient water - closets <br />shall be provided for the use of families and for the use of <br />employees and patrons of the place. In tenement houses or <br />apartments a separate closet, bath tub, or shower, lavatory <br />and sink must be provided for each family. <br />Section CXI. No water closet or urinal bowl or trough, <br />excepting anti - freezing closets, shall be supplied directly <br />from the water supply pipes. Every water closet or urinal <br />bowl or trough shall either be flushed by an improved <br />flushometer valve or indirectly flushed through a flushing <br />tank of at least five (5) gallons capacity for each eater <br />closet and two (2) gallons for each urinal. <br />Section CXII. A group of urinals, on the same floor, <br />subject to constant use as in schools and factories may be <br />supplied from one (1) tank, if provided with an automatic <br />simultaneous flush provided that each individual urinal <br />shall receive not less than one (1) gallon of water at each <br />flushing and the discharge is of such force as to cleanse such <br />individual bowl at each flush. All public urinals in saloons, <br />hotels, comfort stations, and similar locations shall be <br />equipped with automatic flush tanks. <br />Section CXIII. No plumbing fixtures shall be located <br />in any room or apartment vaiich does not contain a window <br />placed in an external wall of the building or is not provided <br />with a system of ventilation. <br />Compartments containing not more than four (4) closets <br />or their equivalent shall be located in an apartment con- <br />taining windows not less than 12 sq. ft. in area and pro- <br />vided with a gravity or mechanical system of ventilation <br />which will change the air at normal temperature not less <br />
