SECTION SIX. SANITARY REQUIPMaNTS. <br />1. Separate Room. A Barber License shall not be issued <br />where the Barber Shop (or Barber Chair) shall be loc- <br />ated in a residence or in connection with living,.dining <br />or sleeping rooms or in connection with any business <br />which serves the public with drinks or eatables Pro - <br />vided, that this prohibition shall not apply to hotels. <br />2. Shop To Be Sanitary, Well Lighted and Ventilated. <br />Every Barber or person in charge of any Barber Shop <br />shall keep said Shop in a clean and sanitary condition. <br />Every Barber Shop shall be well lighted and ventilated. <br />All wood floors shall be covered with Linoleum, tile or <br />other hard surfaced floor coverings. <br />3. Care of Walls and Ceilings. The walls and ceilings steal <br />be painted, whitened or papered and kept free from dust, <br />grease or grime. <br />4. Maintenance. The floors, ceilings, sidewalls, furniture <br />and fixtures, must be kept free from all unsightly and <br />unsanitary dust and grime. All Barber Shops shall be <br />open for inspection at all times during ubsiness hours <br />to the Health Director or his Assistants. Hot and Cold <br />running water from the public water system in such quan- <br />tities as are necessary to conduct such establishemt <br />shall be at all times kept in a thoroughly clean con- <br />ditions. All waste water lavatories, commodes or other <br />drains must be connected to the City sewer. <br />5. Barbers To Be Free From Contagious or Venereal Disease. <br />No person suffering from a contagious or venereal dis- <br />east shall be licensed to Barber in the City of South <br />Bned. When it becomes known that a Barber is oper- <br />ating a Barber Chair while suffering from a contagious <br />or venereal disease, said Barber shall have his City <br />License revoked until such time as he is pronounced heal <br />ed by the Health Director. The Health Direeotor shall <br />have the right and power to call any Barber in the City <br />of South Bend for a health examination at any time. <br />6. Barbers Must Wash Their Hands with soap and water before <br />attending any person. <br />7: No Barber Shall Permit Any Person To Usd The Head <br />Rest of any Barber's Chair under his control unless <br />the head rest is covered by a clean new paper. <br />8. Shaving Persons With Skin Disease. No person with <br />any communicable or contagious disease of the face or <br />scalp, shall be served in a public Barber Shop. <br />9. For Shaving, Barbers shall use a separate.lather of <br />each customer. <br />10. Common Towel Prohibited. No Barber shall use for the <br />service of any customer any towel or wash cloth that <br />has not been boiled and laundered since last used. <br />
