1.0 Schematic Design <br /> 1.1 Meet with the City and other consultants to review and understand the project scope, schedule,budget, <br /> and approval process. Discuss program objectives with City leadership and IP stakeholders. <br /> 1.2 Establish consistent and appropriate application of new IP logo on wayfinding signage. Create a list of <br /> terminology,nomenclature and abbreviations for use on signage that is preferred by the City. <br /> 1.3 Study and understand commercial business sign ordinances and right-of-way signage allowance. <br /> Incorporate applicable regional and city sign ordinances and ADA requirements into the project. <br /> 1.4 Study and understand existing city signage and streetscape conditions,and traffic patterns. <br /> Review reference documents (i.e.,land use plans, City developments, etc.)to determine a <br /> "wayfinding strategy." <br /> 1.5 Review architectural design documents to determine proposed site features,routes of circulation and <br /> user decision nodes,as well as any street enhancements and decoration plans. <br /> 1.6 Establish design and thematic direction for the overall environmental graphics program. <br /> 1.7 Generate sign design sketches including: general size hierarchies, colors,type/font materials,and <br /> graphic images. Present color drawings of selected signage items for approval. <br /> 1.8 Prepare a set of Design Intent Documents at 30%complete. <br /> 2.0 Design Development <br /> 2.1 Based upon approval of the Schematic Design,develop the signage system including preliminary sign <br /> types, estimated quantities, and sign location plans. <br /> 2.2 Create a definitive graphic vocabulary for all wayfinding devices--this includes sign typography, <br /> pictograms and color palette. Shape, size,and method of attachment for signage devices will also be <br /> determined. <br /> 2.3 Develop focus area location plans for a"representative"section of the City.These plans will identify <br /> existing signage devices that are to remain and proposed new signage locations. <br /> 2.4 Recommend an approach to"message sequencing"to be used as a framework for developing sign copy <br /> and text. Prepare a preliminary message schedule for review and approval. <br /> 2.5 Discuss design concepts with a qualified sign fabricator as necessary to develop a"cost opinion"for <br /> the construction and installation of signs and gateways. <br /> 2.6 Provide drawings and illustrations that articulate one selected design concept. <br /> 2.7 Prepare a set of Design Intent Documents at 60%complete. <br /> 3.0 Documentation <br /> 3.1 Finalize sign copy/text with IP and submit sign message schedule to IP for review. <br /> 3.2 Design signage system showing elevations and details for sign types.
