South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting -October 17, 2008 <br />6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) <br />Mr. Inks asked to consider items 6. C. (4) and <br />6.C.(5) next. There was no objection and the items <br />were moved up on the agenda. <br />C. Airport Economic Development Area <br />(4) Proposal and contract for professional <br />services for Marketing Consultation and <br />Communication Services in the MIND <br />area. <br />Mr. Inks noted that the City of South Bend is <br />performing due diligence to ready acres of <br />land in the Sample Street portion of its <br />Certified Technology Park for graduates of <br />Innovation Park and nanotechnology/high- <br />tech companies locating in South Bend. In <br />concert with acquiring property and getting it <br />prepared for construction of new facilities, <br />strategic marketing and communication <br />efforts also are needed. <br />Staff seeks authorization for entering into a <br />contract with the Blue Waters Group to <br />provide marketing consultation and <br />communications services to position South <br />Bend to make the most of the opportunity <br />offered by the Midwest Institute for <br />Nanoelectronics Discovery (MIND). The <br />contracted amount for the first phase, not to <br />exceed $350,000, includes both labor and <br />production costs. <br />The first phase of this initiative in the next <br />six months will include: <br />Defining roles, responsibilities, priorities, <br />expectations and a working relationship <br />with Notre Dame and Project Future. <br />Developing a communications plan and <br />positioning strategy in relation to <br />
