ventures requiring wet or dry lab facilities will be accommodated in other facilities retrofitted to <br />their particular needs on a short-term basis, either through portable wet lab stations or leased <br />facilities in under - utilized laboratory facilities in the Michiana area. <br />Following the initial facility opening, all contracted offsite tenants will be moved to the <br />new building, with new tenants and clients filling the remaining space. This first phase will <br />provide administrative offices, common meeting and refreshment areas, and up to 6,000 sq ft of <br />"greenhouse" space on the ground floor for conceptual development of innovative <br />entrepreneurial start-ups resulting from collaborative imagineering by faculty, students and <br />others within the Irish Angels network, the ND alumni support organizations and interested <br />third -party organizations, e.g., IDEO. The upper floors will provide office space and workshops <br />for "anchor" tenants (defined as world -class commercial enterprises with an established research <br />relationship with Notre Dame and its faculty), separately funded seed and later -stage start-ups <br />requiring office and laboratory facilities (e.g., wet or dry lab), and other separately - funded <br />organizations supporting entrepreneurial activities, e.g., Fish Taco Ventures, venture capital <br />firms, specialty procurement service providers and similar. <br />Key measures of early successful progress will include, for example: <br />• the increase in invention disclosures transformed into active ventures. <br />• the number of multi - disciplinary or technology platform collaboration projects directly <br />involving IP @ND underway or completed. <br />• the quantity and profile of third party risk capital invested in new ventures involved with <br />IP @ND. <br />• the number of IP @ND internships and projects completed or underway with <br />undergraduates and graduate students. <br />Page 19 of 23 <br />
