ventures requiring wet or dry lab facilities will be accommodated in other facilities retrofitted to
their particular needs on a short-term basis, either through portable wet lab stations or leased
facilities in under - utilized laboratory facilities in the Michiana area.
Following the initial facility opening, all contracted offsite tenants will be moved to the
new building, with new tenants and clients filling the remaining space. This first phase will
provide administrative offices, common meeting and refreshment areas, and up to 6,000 sq ft of
"greenhouse" space on the ground floor for conceptual development of innovative
entrepreneurial start-ups resulting from collaborative imagineering by faculty, students and
others within the Irish Angels network, the ND alumni support organizations and interested
third -party organizations, e.g., IDEO. The upper floors will provide office space and workshops
for "anchor" tenants (defined as world -class commercial enterprises with an established research
relationship with Notre Dame and its faculty), separately funded seed and later -stage start-ups
requiring office and laboratory facilities (e.g., wet or dry lab), and other separately - funded
organizations supporting entrepreneurial activities, e.g., Fish Taco Ventures, venture capital
firms, specialty procurement service providers and similar.
Key measures of early successful progress will include, for example:
• the increase in invention disclosures transformed into active ventures.
• the number of multi - disciplinary or technology platform collaboration projects directly
involving IP @ND underway or completed.
• the quantity and profile of third party risk capital invested in new ventures involved with
IP @ND.
• the number of IP @ND internships and projects completed or underway with
undergraduates and graduate students.
