To accomplish this, IP @ND will provide access to the full range <br />of services needed to explore innovative applications into the commercial marketplace. <br />The following resources /services are essential for the support of embryonic companies, <br />but are currently in short supply in Michiana. Providing access to them, therefore, will be a focus <br />of our commercialization efforts: <br />■ Start-up company assistance such as space and shared business services. <br />■ Ready access to the expertise needed for technological platform development and the <br />development of alternative business strategies and marketing plans to move a new <br />venture into the commercial marketplace. <br />■ Ready access to new product development workshops on the campus or in the <br />community to provide technical assistance. <br />■ Reasonable access to start-up, seed, and later -stage risk capital sources, both local and <br />national, for innovations showing particular commercial promise and strong potential to <br />contribute to the Michiana community. <br />lP @ND's Research Mission Component <br />IP @ND will strive to attract collaborative research partners to its facilities. Emphasis <br />will focus on attracting or deepening relationships with commercial and institutional leaders <br />seeking to leverage the demonstrated research strengths of the University and to develop their <br />primary technology platforms. Success will be achieved as university research core centers <br />increase the volume and significance of their research and achieve world -class status. This will <br />attract interest from industry leaders seeking to develop new or improved technology platforms <br />for their primary business.
